If you are looking to play around with Hornet’s movesets in Hollow Knight Silksong, you might want to get your hands on the different Crests that the game has to offer. A Crest is also a type of equipment that allows you to slot in different Tools.

Tools are color-coded and come in three different categories of Red, Blue, and Yellow. The Red tools provide Hornet with more offensive capabilities, Blue provides more defense, and Yellow offers more utility.

All Hollow Knight Silksong Crests, effects, and how to get them

As mentioned, Crests will allow you to change Hornet’s movesets in Hollow Knight Silksong. Every Crest in the game is unique and provides Hornet with a unique ability. Below is a list of all the Crest that are currently available in the game, along with their effects and how to get them:

Crest	Effect	How to Get
Reaper Crest	Hornet can now attack with heavy, arching slashes. She will also reap more Silk from enemies.	To get the Reaper Crest, you will need to make your way to the Chapel of the Reaper in Greymoor. You will be able to locate the castle by heading further west from the Halfway Home.
Beast Crest	Hornet shreds enemies with savage slashes. She can Bind and enter a wild fury, which lets her steal the life away from her enemies.	The Beast Crest can be obtained as a reward by taking down the Savage Beastfly boss, who can be located in the Beast Chapel in The Hunter’s March.
Hunter Crest	Let’s Hornet stalk her prey and attack with lethal strikes.	You will gain access to the Hunter Crest from the very start of the game.
Wanderer Crest	The Wanderer Crest will let Hornet be more swift and nimble. Her strikes will be more precise with her weapon.	To get the Wanderer’s Crest, you will need to reach Bonegrave, which is to the west of Moss Grotto. However, to unlock the area, you will need a key.

How to upgrade Crests in Hollow Knight Silksong

Upgrading Crests in Hollow Knight Silksong will allow you to unlock more tool slots. This will help make Hornet much more powerful, making some of the harder bosses in the game much more manageable.

To be able to upgrade Crests, you will need to gather Memory Lockets. This resource can be found all over the map or can be purchased from various merchants that you come across.

Best Crests and builds in Hollow Knight Silksong

While the Crest you use will depend on the sort of playstyle that you are going for, there are some that are a bit more effective than the rest, based on which point of the narrative you are in.

1) Wanderer Crest (Best for Early Game)

When it comes to dealing with the early parts of progression in Hollow Knight Silksong, the Wanderer Crest will be the ideal option. You will get it right after obtaining the Dash Skill in Deep Docks, and it will allow you to have a much easier time navigating through the map.

The Crest removes the angled dive attack that the base crest has. This helps quite a bit in The Hunter’s March and Greymoor areas, allowing you to pogo much easily.

2) Reaper Crest (Best for Mid Game)

Once you reach the midpoint of progression, it’s best to switch to the Reaper Crest. The equipment will provide you with additional Silk, giving you more options to keep spamming Thread Storm.
