How to beat Chaosdramon early in Digimon Story Time Stranger

Chaosdramon is the super boss that you will come across in Digimon Story Time Stranger. It’s a Virus-Machine type Mega-level threat, which you will find casually patrolling the ground floor of a ruined building while being surrounded by Rookie and Trainee-level Digimon.

The boss will wipe your entire party with Hyper Infinity Cannon, even on Story difficulty, if you are not properly preparing for it. Fortunately, there are ways by which you will be able to take it down easily; however, there is a fair bit of grind that you will have to invest in.

So if you are looking to take down Chaosdramon in this JRPG, then the guide below will help you out.

Digimon Story Time Stranger Chaosdramon guide

There are two methods that you can specifically use for now to take down Chaosdramon at the very beginning of your journey in Digimon Story Time Stranger.

Method 1: Exploiting the Invincible Mode

Invincible Mode in Digimon Story Time Stranger

This is a very straightforward method that does not require any farming on your end. Just switch the game to Story mode when facing off against Chaosdramon. Get your entire party and reserves wiped out, and the game will then give you the option to restart the battle on Invincible mode.

When you switch this on, your party will not take any damage. However, as they are very low-level Rookie and Trainee Digimons, it’s going to take you a pretty long time to chip away at Chaosdramon’s HP.

So just switch on auto-battle and go AFK till your party eventually beats the boss.

Method 2: Making the most of the Load Enhancement system

The next method is a rather grindy one, where you use the Load Enhancement system to take your Digimon to a high enough level stat to easily take on Chaosdramon. 99 is the level cap for Rookies, so you can keep encountering other Digimon in the area, and then scan them till you reach 200% which is max. At max scan level, convert them so that they gain additional stat bonuses and then feed them to the Digimon you want to enhance for even more XP and additional stat boosts.

This is one of the best methods to get OP fast in Time Stranger. However, in later Digi-levels, it takes a lot of grinding to get just one level up. It will take you around 7 hours of farming in Chaosdramon’s area to take one Rookie to level 99.

Fortunately, there is an easier way of streamlining this, and that is by using Monodramon and equipping it with Icicle Edge I. The ability disk can be picked up in a chest near some rail tracks, right before you encounter Omnimon.

Once you reach Chaosdramon’s area, you will find a lot of Monodramon there. Make sure to get a scan level of 200 on it before converting, and then keep using the Load Enhancement feature to feed it more Digimon. The goal is to reach an HP level of 9500+ if you are playing the game on Balance difficulty.

This will take you about 150 Digimon of 200% scan-converts to achieve, which roughly equates to 2 hours of farming. Just make sure to use the lift to go up and then down to reset the area and respawn all loot and Digimon there.

The reason why we are picking Monodramon is because it’s a Vaccine-type, which will automatically resist all damage from the Virus-type Chaosdramon. Secondly, it gets nice attack and defensive stat boosts if you can get the Daring Personality Trait on it (Reckless works too). It won’t be hard to get, as it’s a part of its base Personality Quadrant of Valor.

Once you have reached the required amount of HP, take on the boss. Start the round by using a DEF Boost (item can be found in boxes near Chaosdramon) on Monodramon, and as your turn is not eaten up when you use an item, Monodramon will be able to go first. Use Attack Charge, which will allow the Digimon to gain a 30% Attack boost for 3 turns.

Chaodramon will then wipe out the rest of your party, leaving just Monodramon to tank its hits. Make sure to use HP Capsules at the start of your turn to top up Monodramon, and then use its Icicle Edge I, which Chaosdramon is weak to. Monodramon will be able to tank everything that Chaisdramon throws at it, so just keep chipping away at its health to finally take the boss down.

Make sure to use Attack Charge and the DEF Boost item once their effects wear off. Once you take down Chaosdramon, you will receive a sizeable amount of XP as well as the boasting rights of taking the Super Boss down without having to rely on the cheap Invincible strat.
