Breaking block in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 is a great way to push through an enemy’s defenses, leaving them powerless against a counterattack. While there exist multiple ways to break an enemy’s block/defense, only a few select techniques can be deemed as ‘ideal’.
Breaking block is also crucial to clearing through swarms of Tyranids and is part of your regular moveset of parrying and countering, and should not be ignored.

How to break block of enemies in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2
While it is possible to entirely remove the enemy’s block with just the use of melee and firearms, it is not recommended at all given the cumbersome nature of the process. As such, most players would find it beneficial to use either Grenades, Power Attacks and/or Flanking in order to break blocks.
Using Grenades and Flanking to break block
This method involves the use of explosives, such as grenades. Simply throw a grenade at the enemy, and have your other Space Marine flank them from the back and sides, pumping bullets till they run out of HP.
Unfortunately, this particular method involves the use of multiple AI-controlled Marines (who can be quite unpredictable), along with having to aim the grenades at a very particular position (given that these ‘blocking’ enemies are resistant to frontal damage) – which makes this far from ideal.
Using Power Attacks to break block
Using Power Attacks is a more effective way to break block in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. Simply head to the target enemy, and execute the Power Attack (which is unique to each weapon) to smash through your enemy’s defenses in the process.
Melee weapons possess multiple, chainable combos that add to the block break moves. Of these, the Chainsword remains the ideal pick for executing the move – with the Combat Knife being a decent alternative for singular foes.
