Getting better with Perfect Dodge and Dodge Counter is one of the best ways of mastering combat in Zenless Zone Zero. While the game might not be as challenging as something like Wuthering Waves, the RPG will throw you certain curve balls from time to time.
Certain encounters, as you reach the end game can prove to be rather challenging, which is why it’s best to master some of the basic combat mechanics in the title.
Here is a guide on everything that you need to know about performing Perfect Dodges and Dodge counters in Zenless Zone Zero.
What is a Perfect Dodge in Zenless Zone Zero and how to perform it?
A Perfect Dodge is a Basic Dodge that you pull off right before the enemy is about to land a hit on your character. Once you get the timing right and you input the command for a Basic Dodge, your Agent will receive a few frames of invulnerability.
When that happens, you will then be able to follow it up with either a Dodge Counter or a Dash Attack.
To easily perform a Perfect Dodge in Zenless Zone Zero, wait for the enemy to attack. They will then start to flash yellow or orange. So wait for the attack to land, and just before it does press the Basic Dodge button.

On PC the Dodge button will be the Right Mouse Click, on the Xbox controller it’s A, on the PlayStation controller it’s the Circle, and on mobile it’s the “three triangles” icon.
Mastering Perfect Dodge will take some time. You will need to learn the enemy patterns by heart and this will either happen automatically over time as you play the game or if you are grinding it out in Arena.
How to perform Dodge Counters in Zenless Zone Zero
A Dodge Counter Counter can only be performed only after you have performed a Perfect Dodge. So once you have successfully pulled one off you will need to tap the basic attack button.
You will then automatically perform a Dodge Counter, which is considered a Heavy Attack. This is also one of the reasons why you would use Dodge Counters more than Dash Attacks after performing a Perfect Dodge.
Also do keep in mind that based on the characters that you are using, a Dodge Counter is capable of applying a particular effect. So make sure you are aware of this mechanic when setting up your party in Hoyoverse‘s latest RPG.
