As a part of a What If scenario, you will get a chance to go up against Gohan Black in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. In this story deviation, Zamasu will take over Gohan’s body instead of Goku after recognizing him to be the strongest in the universe.
It’s one of the hardest scenarios to unlock in the game as you will need to complete one of the Gohan’s chapters flawlessly to be able to unlock it.

Unlocking Gohan Black in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
To access Gohan Black in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, you will first need to complete the “Defend Earth from the Frieza Force!” chapter in under two minutes and have at least 4 pips of HP. However, as the exact amount of health required is unclear, just make sure you take minimal damage.
You can follow the tips below to be able to pull this off successfully:
- Stay in Gohan’s Sparking Mode as much as possible. This will let you stagger-lock the Fireza Force in your Rush Attack and then you can end the combo with an Ultimate.
- Abuse Pursuit Attacks to extend your DPS and follow it up with more attacks after you knock them away.
- Frieza himself will be the harder part of the encounter, so make sure you are using every trick in the book when up against him. Rely on your Ultimate Blast and hit him with it at least two times to make the fight more manageable.
- You can also go into a Clash encounter with Frieza and win out on the subsequent button prompts in order to deal massive damage to him.
If you are able to pull it off then you will hear Frieza say “Hmph, not bad boy,”. If you are failing, then Gohan instead will say “I’m not tapping into my full strength…”
Once you have been able to pull it, off you will unlock Gohan’s Sparking episode which will then give you access to the following chapters:
- Goku’s Son
- Frieza’s Determination
- A Reunion, and a New Enemy!
- Gohan Black’s True Identity
- Gohan Black and Gohan
- The Future Entrusted
- The Strongest Warrior
In this scenario, Zamasu will pick to swap bodies with Gohan instead of Goku after recognizing him to be the strongest in the universe. The storyline will culminate in Gohan and Future Trunks going head-to-head with this alternate version.
Is Gohan Black playable in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?
While being featured in a What-If scenario, Gohan Black is unfortunately not playable in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero right now. However, recent news has surfaced about Ultimate Gohan Balck through a V-Jump scan.
So it’s likely that he will be one of the characters who will be added to the game with the upcoming DLC expansions.
