Much like in the sequel, Mutt remains your most loyal friend and companion in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. He will often help you out when you are in an encounter and even distract the enemy when you are getting ganged up on.
So you will naturally want to keep your best friend happy by feeding him every now and then. The earliest scenario where you get to feed Mutt will be during the “Easy Riders” quests.
It’s a part of the main narrative, and you will not be able to continue with the story till you finally feed Mutt. So, if you are struggling with this quest in the RPG then the guide below will help you out.
How to get food for Mutt in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
During the Easy Riders quest, you will see Henry and his group setting up camp outside of Trosky Castle. A little way into the quest, you will notice Mutt starting to bark as he is hungry and the others in the camp will suggest that you feed him.
You will not be able to move forward with the main questline till you do. So once you regain control of Henry and see Mutt Barking at Oats, you will need to interact with the NPC, who also plays the role of the resident chef.
Oats will ask you to whistle to calm Mutt down. You can do this by holding “X.” This completes the “Call Mutt to heel” objective and starts the quest to feed him. So, at this point, talk to Oats, who is now stirring food in a pot, and you can now try two things here to get food for Mutt:
1) Directly ask Oats for food
When you interact with Oats at this point, you will get the following dialog options:
- We’ll get food at Trosky.
- I’ll bring you something from the nobles’ feast.
- You wouldn’t want Mutt to bite you…
Depending on your character’s attributes, all three of these options have a chance for success or failure. If you are successful, Oats will hand over the sausages that you can then feed to Mutt. However, if you fail, there is an alternative.
Oats will then suggest that he can trade the sausages in for his ring, and to get his ring, you will need to talk to Tankard.
2) Get Oats’ ring from Tankard
In the camp, Tankard can be seen sitting at a table to the left of Oats with a hat on. Interact with him and pick the following dialog option: “How about playing dice for the ring?”
This will now start the tutorial for the dice game where the first person to reach the goal score of 1,500 wins. It’s not too difficult and objective to complete and once you do you will receive Oat’s Ring. Now bring that back to the chef and he will give you the sausages in return.
How to feed Mutt in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Once you have the sausages, you will need to walk up to Mutt, look at him, and then hold Left+Alt, and then press the 1 key. You will now automatically start the feeding animation, thereby completing this quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
