How to get Messmerfire Grease in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Messmerfire Grease is one of the many new consumables that you will come across in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Although you will come across this item as a random world drop, it’s numbers are limited. However, given how useful it is in combat, you will be able to craft this item too.

Where to find Messmerfire Grease in Elden Ring DLC

There are a few locations where you will come across Messmerfire Grease in the Shadow Realm. They’re as follows:

• Shadow Keep: You’ll come across multiple ships in the area. One of the corpses near these ships will contain one stack of Messmerfire Grease.
• First Rise Site of Grace: Spawn here and head east to the big archway that you see in the distance. You’ll find it on a corpse beside the door.

How to craft Messmerfire Grease in Shadow of the Erdtree

To craft Messmerfire Grease, you’ll need the following items:

• Knot Resin (x1)
• Black Pyrefly (x1)

Before you can craft the Messmerfire Grease in the Elden Ring DLC, you will have to unlock the recipe first. To do so, you’ll have to get the Fireknight’s Cookbook [1].

To find this item, head to the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace in Scadu Atlus. To the west of this Site of Grace, you’ll find an Encampment within which is a corpse with this item.

Where to farm Knot Resin

The easiest place to farm Knot Resin in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace. Here you’ll see a lot of Shadow Husks spawn. Killing the drops Knot Resin.

To farm this item, kill these enemies, and then go to the Site of Grace and rest to reset the enemies. You can repeat this for as long as you want.

Where to farm Black Pyreflies

The best spot to farm Black Pyreflies is by the Castle Front Gate Site of Grace. However, resting at the Site of Grace doesn’t seem to reset these flies. In case resting doesn’t work, jump off the cliff or get killed by an enemy, and these Black Pyreflies wil reset themselves.

Once you’ve farned enough of these items, you can craft as much Messmerfire Grease as you want. It’s worth remembering that you can have only 10 of this item in your inventory, but you can store upto 600 in your chest in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
