How to link items to chat in Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2 has a chat feature that allows you to link items to it when communicating with other players on your instance. This system comes especially handing when you are enjoying the game on multiplayer/co-op and need to decide on how best you can distribute the loot amongst all party members.

This feature is also helpful when you are looking to trade items in Hub Town. Even if you are not in a party you will be able to link it to chat if you’d rather trade an unwanted gear with another player instead of just directly salvaging or disenchanting them.

However, linking items to chat can seem a bit complicated a first as Path of Exile 2 does not exactly do a good job of explaining this social feature. S if you are struggling with it, here is a guide that will help you out.

Linking items to chat in Path of Exile 2

Link item to chat PoE 2

To be able to link items to chat in Path of Exile 2, here is what you will need to do:

  • Open the character menu and then look for the “Toogle Chat” option which is at the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Once the new menu pops up you will need to cross over to your inventory and then hover over the item the you want to link.
  • Select it and then click on the “Link to chat” option located at the very bottom of the screen.
  • Now the item will be linked, and you can use the chat bar next to write a message and send it along with the item.
  • Make sure that you are sending the message in either global or local chat if you want players outside your party to read it.

Once the message is out, any player will be able to hover over it and get a list of all the stats that the weapon or gear has. And if they want to exchange it with an item of their own, they will be able to start a trade with you in PoE 2.

Note: Make sure here are no enemies around when you are looking to link items to chat. You don’t want to be attacked and killed when you are in the character menu.

When should you be linking items to chat in PoE 2?

You should be linking items to chat when you are communicating with your party on who gets what loot. Path of Exile 2 allows for a maximum party size of 6 and when a loot drops there is a brief period when no one can it up, you can take this time to talk about who needs which item. So if you accidentally pick up one that you don’t need, you can always link it to chat for other party members to see and let them decide if they need it.

Another instance were you should link items to chat is when you need to trade with another player in the Hub. if you find an item that you think another player might need, instead of just salvaging or disenchanting it, link it to chat and see if another player will like to trade.
