To have an easier time progressing through some of the hardest content that Digimon Story Time Stranger has to offer, you will need to make a well-balanced party of monsters that complement each other.
When picking your team, you will need to take a lot of things into account, with the most important being Personality Traits, Attributes, Abilities, as well as Passive Skills.
So if you are looking to make the ultimate team to take on any of the hardest content in this JRPG, then the guide below will help you out.
Making the Ultimate Team in Digimon Story Time Stranger

When making your team in Time Stranger, atleast during the early parts of your progression, you will want to take into consideration the Mega Evolution forms of your party and then build towards that.
Moreover, if you do not consider the guest Digimons, you are only going to be able to field 3 Digimon at a time, with 3 in your bench. So you will have to focus on synergizing between them.
So let’s start with your three opener Digimon and how you will want to go around building them.
For the case of this guide, we will name the three opener Digimon as follows:
- The Stage Setter
- The Damage Dealer
- The Filler
1) The Stage Setter
The Stage Setter Digimon will be the one who sets the opening rounds for you, making it easier to have the perfect start to the encounter. You can give it the Astute Personality trait for increased stats in Int and Speed, along with the Planning Ahead passive skill, which will reduce the DEF and SPD for all enemies for three rounds at the start of combat.
This Debuff is extremely important as it can make the encounter significantly more manageable. Apart from this, you will want to have other Status Effects inflicting skills on the enemy, like Deadly Poison and Injury, while having the ability to deal damage to multiple enemies.
Virus-type Digimon that deal more damage to Deity Traits are a good example of a Stage Setter. So you can start off by getting your hands on a DemiDevimon from a Pagumon and then building along that line, giving it the necessary traits and Attachment Skills to set the early rounds for you.

2) The Damage Dealer
Once you have your Stage Setter picked, you will now need to focus on having a Digimon who will be your main source of damage. If you are focused on a more Crit-oriented build, then you can put the Digimon on a Haymaker passive, which will let them do 20% more damage on critical hits. This applies to each hit of a multi-hit attack as well, allowing you to pile on the DPS on an enemy who already has their DEF reduced.
Apart from Haymaker, you can also go for Fast Break or Intense Focus, which will give you an ATK or INT boost for the three rounds of combat. The earlier the round, the greater will be the boost.
As for Passive Trait, Astute will work as you will want to maximize damage on enemies that are affected by status abnormalities or even the Injury/Disease effect. This is where certain multi-hit Ice attacks come in, which will let you do more damage to enemies who are inflicted by these effects.
So when the Stage Setter puts out these effects, you can deal an insane amount of damage with your Damage Dealer. Zudomon can be a good option for a Damage Dealer.

3) The Filler
The 3rd slot is a flexible one, and you will want to use a Digimon here who will be capable of filling our multiple roles to a certain degree. They are more of a supporting type, and you will want to use them to fill out some of the weaknesses that your comp might have.
So when it comes to the Passive, you will want to have something like Cheer, which will improve ATK and INT for all allies at the start of combat for 3 rounds. This, paired with the Stage Setter’s Planning Ahead, will let you win out encounters in just one round.
Apart from Cheer, you can also go for something like Fortifying Charge, which will boost all of the Target’s stats by 10% when using skills to recover an ally’s HP. So if you are using a Digimon that can heal its party, this Passive will really help out.
Astute will be a good trait to go for when it comes to the Filler, and to augment your party even further, make sure to have even more debuffs apart from healing skills to make the Super Bosses even more manageable.
