How to obtain the Punutiy mount in Final Fantasy XIV

The Punutiy is one of the mounts that has made its way to Final Fantasy XIV with the 7.1 update. The creature is technically a Manatee of Etheirys and you will now be able to get your hands on a flying version of it with the new new patch.

However, obtaining the Punutiy is easier said than done and there are a few steps that you will need to complete in the MMO. Much like with the Brachiosaur mount, there are a few nuances to be aware of, so if you are keen on getting the Punutiy, here is what you will need to do.

Unlock Pelupelu Allied Society

To get the Punutiy mount in Final Fantasy XIV, the first thing that you will be required to do is unlock the Pelupelu Allied Society. This is the first Allied Society to have made its way to the Dawntrail expansion with the 7.1 update.

To gain access to the Dock Poga you will first need to complete all of the main story quests of Dawntrail, including the final level 100 mission. Then head to Tuliyollal (X:13.6, Y:12.9) and talk to the Blue-garbed Pelu.

You will now receive the level 90 “An Intrepid New Enterprise” quest, complete it with a job that fits the level requirement and you will automatically unlock the Pelupelu Allied Society.

Once you have access, you will be able to pick up three Society quests per day. Completing them will provide you with reputation and a resource called Pelu Pelplumes. Reputation helps in improving your Society rank, while Pelu Pelplumes are used to purchase items from Pavli in Dock Poga (X:37.1, Y:16.1).

The Punutiy mount (Punity Horn) is one of the many items that you will be able to purchase from the NPC and it will cost you 18 Pelu Pelplumes and a reputation rank of Respected (roughly translates to 720 reputation).

So make sure you are religiously completing the daily Society missions if you are keen on getting the mount.

Punutiy lore in FF14

The Punutiys are Manatees of Etheirys who were initially used to tow riverboats through Tural. The Hanu Hanu would later imbue them with the power of the wind which allowed the Punutiy to float and glide in the sky. They were then used to transport items and passengers past the waterfalls of Kozama’uka.

The Punutiy mount in Final Fantasy XIV comes with a command action called Bosom Brook. When used the Punutiy will spin and show off all of its water gymnastics.
