As you explore the open world and unlock new areas in Infinity Nikki you come across cure animals and critters that you will be able to catch and groom. It’s one of the coziest parts of this cozy dress-up game, however, you will not be able to pet the animals right away.
You will need to invest some time in progressing through the narrative and after meeting certain conditions will you be able to tame some of the wildlife in Miraland.

When can you start catching and grooming animals in Infinity Nikki?
Being able to catch and groom the various animals of Miraland is tied to progression in Infinity Nikki. The first thing you will need to do is to unlock three ability outfits by progressing through the campaign. The outfits are as follows:
- Bye-Bye Dust: For Animal grooming
- Afternoon Shine: For Bug-catching
- Rippling Serenity: For Fishing
So once you have unlocked all three outfits you will be able to take part in catching bugs and fish, as well as grooming animals. You can also obtain Whimstars by taking part in these activities, like catching Whimstar Bugs while having the Afternoon Shine outfit on.
How to groom animals in Infinity Nikki
To groom and pet animals in Infinity Nikki, you will have to have the Bye-Bye Dust outfit on. You can do this by tapping “1” or selecting the upper-right portion of the outfit selection wheel.
When it’s on, hold the right mouse button and slowly approach the animal that you want to pet. If you are doing it correctly then a brush icon will come up over the animal and then you can press the right mouse button to start petting it and a brief animation will now play out.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind when trying to pet animals in Infinity Nikki. The first is, that docile animals like dogs and sheep are easier to approach and will stay in place when you approach them.
Other wildlife like cats, birds, and horses are wary and will look to move away when you approach them. There will be a question mark over their head when they spot you, and to safely approach them you will need to hold the right mouse button and slowly approach. If the icon turns into an exclamation mark, then the animal will run away.
How to catch bugs in Infinity Nikki
Catching bugs is a bit easier than taming wildlife. To pull it off, you will need to wear the Afternoon Shine outfit and approach an insect that you see in the open world. Once you are in range, press the right mouse button to catch it in your net.
It might take some time to learn the timing, but there isn’t much to it, and you will get used to it after a couple of attempts.
How to catch fish in Infinity Nikki
To catch fish in Infinity Nikki make sure that you are wearing the Rippling Serenity outfit and approach a water body that has fish in it (look for ripples on the water’s surface). Then press the right mouse button to cast your line and when a fish goes for a bite, press “S” to pull it back.
The fish will now swim sideways, and you will need to press either “A” or “D” and pull in the opposite direction of where it’s trying to go.
You will notice a circular stamina gauge above the fish when you are reeling it in. The goal is to force it to completely deplete the bar and then finally tell it in by pressing the right mouse button.
Other tips and tricks for gathering, catching, and petting
Here are a few things to keep in mind when you are trying to maximize your resource farm in Infinity Nikki:
- In the Heart of Infinity menu, you will notice some gathering-related perks on the bottom-left portion of the pane. These will include enhancements that are related to fishing, grooming, and catching insects as well. Once you reach a particular value here, you can use Bling and Whimstars to permanently unlock each of these upgrades.
- Realm of Nourishment is one of the Realm Challenges in Infinity Nikki. Here you will find small critters called Fufu whom you can collect to obtain Insight types for the various activities including fishing, grooming, and bug-catching.
- Once you have obtained a particular material from an animal, insect, or fish, you will be able to track it by opening the world map and then clicking on the Collections icon which is located in the lower-left corner. This will let you have a much easier time target farming a resource.
- If you are not too keen on manually gathering one resource, you can always look to purchase it from a seller by using Bling.
