The League of Legends European Championship, more commonly known as the LEC, is set to undergo major changes to its scheduling and format for the 2025 season. New features such as fearless draft and roadshows should spice up the league’s atmosphere.
With these changes to the three splits, the LEC hopes to be a better viewing and competitive experience for the fans and players, respectively.
LEC 2025 Winter Split format changes
The format for the Winter Split largely remains unchanged with the sole exception of the playoffs stage. The top 8 teams from the regular season will advance to the playoffs, where fearless draft will be implemented.

The playoffs stage will remain a double elimination bracket. The regular season will last for three weeks with best-of-one matches. The winner of the Winter Split will qualify for the brand new international tournament as the LEC’s representative.
LEC 2025 Spring Split format changes
The LEC 2025 Spring Split will now be a seven week regular season. Every LEC team will play nine best-of-threes in a single round-robin format. Unlike previous Spring Splits, only six teams will qualify for the playoffs stage.

The double-elimination playoffs will feature only best-of-five series’ with no fearless draft in play. The two finalists of the LEC 2025 Spring Split will qualify for MSI 2025.
LEC 2025 Summer Split format changes
The LEC 2025 Summer Split will see a shake-up in the regular season. With the continuation of best-of-three matches, teams will be divided into two groups and play against other teams in their respective groups.
The top eight teams will make it out of the groups stage. The top two teams from each group will secure a direct spot in the playoffs.

The third and fourth placed teams from both groups will cross-play in a best-of-three match. These matches will determine the final two teams in the playoffs stage. Six teams will then compete for the LEC 2025 Summer Split trophy, as well as the chance to qualify for Worlds 2025.
Other LEC 2025 format changes
Some of the other important changes to the LEC 2025 season include:
- Removal of championship points and Season Finals.
- Emphasis on playing most matches on live patch.
- LEC roadshow in the Summer Split with locations and venue to be announced.
- Partnering with LEC teams to host Spring Split matches in venue’s of the team’s choice.
