Soraka Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14
Pros:
- Soraka has some of the best utility in Riot’s MOBA. Along with boasting abilities that heal, her Equinox can also silence and root enemies if they stand on it for too long. This can nullify a lot of enemy engages, making it harder for assassin picks to fully commit to the back line.
- Soraka has great peel. Her healing alone can waste a lot of the enemy CC and engage, making it easier for your team to collapse on them. As she scales quite well into the late game, her healing prowess goes up significantly the longer a game goes.
- Soraka is pretty easy to pick up and master. Just get familiar with her buttons and positioning, and you will have a much easier time navigating around teamfights. Unlike the other meta-supports, she is quite consistent with what she brings to the table. Her playstyle will help teach about some of the various mechanics in the game.
Cons:
- Soraka has a pretty weak early game. She is often in the losing lane as she takes time to scale and often pairs with ADC who are hyper-carries and need items to be relevant. This makes her pretty weak against aggressive Supports like Blitzcrank, Maokai, and Nautilus.
- Soraka lacks mobility. While she can heal herself and others to help them survive longer, the Star Child finds it pretty hard to escape from an engage. This is especially true if she is caught out with her flash down. Her lack of resistance and escape tools makes her a very easy target in skirmishes.
- Soraka doesn’t do much alone. She is not good at roaming and always needs to rely on her team. This is also due to the fact that she doesn’t have much engage and disengage abilities up her sleeves.
How to play Soraka: Tips and Tricks for League of Legends Season 14

Early Game:
- As mentioned, Soraka’s early game is pretty weak. So your main goal with her will be to sit in lane and stay relevant in Gold and XP. Keep your ADC duo topped up in health and poke out the enemy with her Starcall every time they walk up to last hit a minion.
- Even with the best build paths and items, Soraka is very weak to getting caught out in the lane. If you are especially up against a losing match-up where you are up against a hook or an engage support, you will need to be extra careful.
- Make sure you are warding around your lane to prevent your lane from getting flanked by the enemy jungler. Put in deep Wards in the enemy jungle only when your lane is pushing up.
Mid Game:
- In the Mid Game, Soraka will likely start to see some relevance. Around teamfights and skirmishes. She can keep your team alive for longer, and once you start building Soraka’s core items, she can be pretty annoying to deal with.
- Make sure you are not pre-maturely using her Equinox. The silence that the ability inflicts is one of her best CC tools, and this can negate a lot of the things that the enemy is trying to do. So pick your timings wisely before you use it as it has a pretty long cooldown period.
- Continue to improve your vision score. Place deep Wards in the enemy territory and around the neutral objectives. You can also choose to roam with your Jungler and set up for an objective take, or stay in Mid and help your ADC have priority over the lane.

- With lower cooldowns, she can continue to spam her Q and E. This lets her have a fair bit of control over a teamfight, however, your primary goal will be to keep all of your teammates alive when the enemy collapses on them.
- Continue to improve your vision score. Use the Sweepers to take out enemy vision while planting your own Wards to catch out enemy flanks. Make sure that you don’t get caught out when placing Wards. Soraka is squishy and can be bursted down even before you get a chance to press a button.
