League of Legends Arena mode is returning on June 25, 2025, with LoL patch 25.13, and will be available for 12 months. This bit of news comes from the developers themselves from their latest blog post, which further goes on to suggest that apart from running for a year, the mode will also be receiving frequent balance updates, just like how ARAM and Summoner’s Rift get them.
Arena mode has been one of the most successful alternate game modes in the MOBA. It also comes with its own progression feature that does not traditionally play out like a ranking system that Summoner’s Rift enjoys.
Below are some of the things that we can expect from LoL Arena when it returns later this month.
League of Legends Arena returning this June
As mentioned, according to the post, LoL Arena will be returning on June 25, 2025, with patch 25.13. The patch is also called the MSI patch, as it will be the version of the MOBA that the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational will be played on.
Apart from this, the post also suggests that the game mode will be available for about a year. This is great news for Arena fans, as previously, the mode was only available for a couple of months. So they will have more time to grind their Fame by winning matches and progressing through the stages.
Moreover, the mode will also receive frequent balance updates and new content for progression. There will also be a larger update in the first half of 2026, so it will be interesting to see what Riot is cooking up with the game mode this time around.
In the post, Riot states:
“Arena’s latest run was well received, both while it was active, and after. When it went away, we saw players actively looking for it and telling us how much they enjoyed it as an alternate way to play League. We heard the conversations in the community across the globe, saw all the tags of our official accounts, and even one region flooded the PBE where Arena was still accessible for them. “
“For the rest of this year, you’ll be playing Arena in the Grand Reckoning from Season 1 without any fundamental changes. We’ll be doing regular balance updates every other patch, somewhat similar to what we do for ARAM. Also, when we turn it back on, you’ll continue right where you left off in regards to your Arena God Challenge or Fame. Later this year, there will be a progression reset for Arena with Season 3 as well as some new augments to earn and unlock! We’ll share more about that as we get closer. “
The post also states that Arena being available for a year does not hamper the release of other rotating game modes. So while this one is active, players will be able to enjoy ARURF, Brawl, and other Meta games (like the upcoming Yunara and Xin Zhao game) once they release.
