The Street Surfer is a great way of getting around the streets of Hawaii fast in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza. If you have played Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, you will be all too familiar with this electronic surfer.
RRG Studio is reintroducing it to the latest Yakuza entry and adding a couple of enhancements and customization options to it. However, you will not have access to the Street Surfer right away in Pirate Yakuza.
During the initial hours, you will be exploring Hawaii on foot, so if you are unsure of when you will get to unlock the vehicle in the action-adventure title, then the guide below will help you out.
How to unlock the Street Surfer in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza
You will be able to get your hands on the Street Surfer a little late into the Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza narrative. During the initial hours, you will take on the quest to strengthen the Goromaru ship and make it powerful enough to take on the Madlantis Pirate Coliseum.
So as you track down the mechanics around town, you will eventually be able to completely remodel your ship. And once that is done, you will automatically trigger a cutscene where Noah sees a Street Surfer passing by.
The NPC, Oka, who made the vehicle in Infinite Wealth will be making a return. interact with him, exhaust all dialogs, and you will eventually start a trial run of the Surfer. Once the trial ends you will have access to the vehicle at all times.
How to customize the Street Surfer in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza
To be able to customize your Street Surfer you will need to head to any Oka Charging Station which is available all around Hawaii. Moreover, compared to Infinite Wealth you have more personalization options for your surfer this time around.
You will be able to unlock more customizable parts by purchasing items from various shops. There is a lot of unique stuff that you can get your hands on by just exploring Hawaii, so just make sure to talk to every vendor that you come across and you might just find the perfect front handles and flags that fits your style.
How to upgrade the Street Surfer in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza (Battery Locations)
As in the case of Infinite Wealth, you will be able to improve the battery capacity of the Street Surfer in Pirate Yakuza as well. To be able to do so you will need to get your hands on two extra battery packs, and after installing them your Street Surfer will have a total of eight stacks.
You will be able to locate both the Beta and the Gamma Sufer Battery in Hawaii. Here is where you can find them:
1) Beta Surfer Battery Pack
To get the Beta Surfer Battery Pack you will need to buy it from the Treasure Select Pawn Shop which is located on River Street near Aloha Bridge. It costs $1500, so you might not be able to purchase this right away.
2) Gamma Surfer Battery Pack
For the Gamma Pack, you will need to make your way to the West Side of the map till you reach the Chinatown Treause Select Pawn Shop. It too sells for $1500, so you might not be able to get it during your initial hours in the game.
Note: Although there is a fast-travel Taxi system in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza, we recommend that you rely on the Surfer more often to get around town. This is because the Surfer will let you make friends with a lot of strangers as you just keep riding around from one point to the next.
