Major System changes in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance: Demi-Fiend recruitable, Virtual Trainer, and more

Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance will be receiving massive system adjustments compared to the base game including a Virtual Trainer mode and making Nocturne’s Demi-Fiend recruitable. However, these are not the only highlights that Veangence is bringing to the JRPG. Several improvements will be hitting the Miracle system as well as Subquests.

More Miracles will be added to SMT5 Vengeance along with new Subquest types where you control another demon in time-sensitive events.

There is indeed a lot to unfold when it comes to the total number of improvements Atlus has introduced.

Over 50 changes are coming to Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance. Below we talk about some of the most important ones that are hitting the in-game systems.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance system changes

Atlus points out these major changes coming to SMT 5 Vengeance:

1) Apotheosis strengthening

Apart from combining more powerful demons by accessing Leyline Fountains, you will be able to strengthen your demons further through the new Apotheosis system in the World of Shadows.

2) New Miracles and Miracle Toggle

As you acquire more Glory when exploring Da’at you will be able to use that resource to unlock Miracles for the Nahobino in the World of Shadows. Apart from the existing Miracles in SMT5, Vengeance will be adding newer ones.

Apart from getting new Miracles, you will also be able to toggle these Miracles On/Off. You can disable them strategically based on the situation you are in.

3) New anti-encounter Miracle: Estoma

Estoma Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance

Estoma will be one of the new Miracles added in Shin Megami Tensei 5 VEngeance. When triggered it will let you avoid all demon encounters when exploring Da’at. If you do bump into a demon then they will just disappear.

Estoma will not use MP but rather rely on your Magatsuhi guage. You can toggle this effect On/Off when you want.

4) Essence Fusion

When exploring Da’at you will come across a lot of Essence which is the copy of a demon’s abilities. In Vengeance you will find an essence for every demon in the game. You will be able to fuse these with the Nahobino or other Demons to transfer abilities and resistances to them.

5) New Subquest and Time-Sensitive events

Control other demons in SMT5 Vengeance

You will find many Demons out in the open-world who will ask for help thereby starting a “Subquest”. There will be many new subquests added in SMT 5 Vengeance, along with time-sensitive events where you will get to take control of a demon.

Completing the various subquests will offer a lot of items and rewards.

6) Demi-Fiend is now recruitable

Add Demi Fiend to party in SMT5 Vengeance

You will be able to complete the “Return of the True Demon” by fulfilling certain conditions. This mission was part of the DLC questline in base SMT5. Once you have completed the quest you will be able to unlock SMT Nocturne’s Demi-Fiend as a party member.

However, the Demi-Fiend fight is one of the hardest in the game so recruiting the former Megaten protagonist will be no easy feat.

7) Virtual Trainer Boss Rush

You will be able to unliock th Virtual Trainer in the Diet Building. Here you will be able to challenge bosses that you have already faced in the narrative. This will be a boss rush mode where you will get to enjoy a series of continuous battles.

Virtual Trainer SMT5 Vengeance

Virtual Trainer in Shin Megami Tensei 5 will have two modes:

Original Mode:

  • The bosses will ave the same strengths and weakness as the version of them that you faced during the narrative.

Challenge Mode:

  • The bosses will be far more powerful and each time you clear a fight their level will go up by 100. Their levels will scale to a maximum of 999.

8) New Level cap of 150

When you meet certain conditions in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance you will get a new Miracle called “Moral Transcendence”. When you learn this you will be able to increase the Nahobino their party’s max level to 150.

This will offer a lot of party versatility when you reach the late game.
