Talent, Bond, and Bonus Stats are key systems in Digimon Story Time Stranger. You will need to have a firm understanding of all of them, especially if you are playing the game on the hardest difficulty levels and looking to completely min-max your party.
So if you are looking to make the most of these core systems in the JRPG, the guide below will help you out.
What are Bonus Stats in Digimon Story Time Stranger? And how do they work?

You will notice that every Digimon has blue bracketted numbers next to each stat when you inspect them in your party and reserve box. These stats are the bonus stats in Time Stranger and will be primarily influenced by the Personality Trait that the Digimon has. Bonus stats are also acquired through Load Enhancements and converting Digimon after you scan them to 200%.
As it levels up, it will also gain bonus stats, which will not be shown and will only be applied when you De-Digivolve or Digivolve the Digimon.
Personality Traits play a key role in adding bonus points to certain stats. Here is a list of the traits and the stats that they have an additional influence on:
- Brave: A valiant heart boosts ATK (+3) and SP (+2) growth.
- Zealous: A passionate heart boosts ATK (+2) and SPD (+3) growth.
- Daring: A dauntless heart boosts ATK (+2) and DEF (+3) growth.
- Reckless: A wild heart boosts ATK (+2) and HP (+4) growth.
- Adoring: An affectionate heart boosts SPI (+4) and DEF (+2) growth.
- Devoted: A dedicated heart boosts SPI (+3) and INT (+3) growth.
- Tolerant: An accepting heart boosts SPI (+3) and SP (+4) growth.
- Overprotective: A vigilant heart boosts SPI (+3) and HP (+4) growth.
- Compassionate: A sympathetic heart boosts DEF (+4) and HP (+2) growth.
- Sociable: An outgoing heart boosts DEF (+3) and SP (+4) growth.
- Friendly: An amiable heart boosts DEF (+3) and ATK (+3) growth.
- Opportunistic: A crafty heart boosts DEF (+3) and SPI (+3) growth.
- Astute: A wise heart boosts INT (+3) and SPD (+2) growth.
- Strategic: A strategic heart boosts INT (+2) and SPI (+3) growth.
- Enlightened: An inspired heart boosts INT (+2) and SP (+4) growth.
- Sly: A teasing heart boosts INT (+2) and HP (+4) growth.
The bonus stats that you gain from a Digimon’s Personality will not be reflected until you De-Digivolve or just Digivolve the Digimon.
Apart from the Personality boosts, Bond and Talent also play a key role in how stats carry over during the evolution process.
What is a Digimon’s Talent in Time Stranger?

A Digimon’s Talent determines the max level of your Digimon. You will be able to increase this through a variety of methods:
- Using the Load Enhancements system to feed it Digimon. Make sure to use Digimon, which have been converted after a 200% scan.
- Using Talent Awakening Booster DX.
- During Digivolution, the Talent metric is increased naturally.
- Participating in battles, finishing enemies, and not taking damage during an encounter can also increase a Digimon’s talent.
- Training your Digimon in the Digifarm will also work towards increasing their talent.
How does your Bond with a Digimon work in Time Stranger?

Bond is the friendship mechanic that you share with a Digimon. This metric is increased by actively using them in your party when you battle, by talking to them, and feeding them at the Digifarm.
Increasing the bond with your Digimon will not provide it with bonus stats right away. The stats will increase when you meet one of the two following parameters:
1) Using Augmentation Chips
This is a more straightforward parameter. There are a plethora of Augmentation Chips that you will be able to get your hands on, which will increase certain stats on your Digimon. These will go straight to your bonus and cumulative stats, and the bonus you get out of them will be based on your bond level with that Digimon.
2) Performing a Digivolution or De-Digivolution
When you perform a Digivolution or a De-Digivolution, 1% of the previous Digimon’s stat value, that is increased through leveling up or training on the farm, will be added to the cumulative stat during the evolution process.
The higher the bond that you have with your Digimon, the more of these stats will be transferred during evolution. So if you are not having a good bond level with your Digimon, leveling them up, evolving, and De-Digivolving them will not yield the best results, and you will barely gain any cumulative stats.
So it’s important to keep them in your active party and then battling with them to raise their overall bond level.
