The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered complete items repair guide

All weapons and armor come with a durability meter in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered, which is why you will need to periodically keep repairing your favorite items. When a weapon or armor durability decreases over time, it will be less effective.

This durability meter decreases quite fast. Fortunately, repairing all of your weapons and armor is easy, and there are only a couple of things that you will need to do to get your equipment all new and shiny again.

So if you are looking to learn everything there is about the repairing and durability system in the RPG, then the guide below will help you out.

How does durability work in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered

Durability is the system that affects all of your weapons and armor in The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered. When it runs out, your weapon damage will be affected, and your armor’s shield ratings will go down.

This makes it so that you cannot go long without having to repair your items in the game. Once durability runs out, it gets significantly harder for you to survive encounters.

How to repair items in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered

There are two ways by which you will be able to repair all of your weapons, armor, and items in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered:

1) Using a Repair Hammer

using a Repair Hammer in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered

The first and the most straightforward way of repairing each of your items will be by using a Repair Hammer. Repair hammers can be found all over the map or bought from stores in major cities and towns.

You will mainly find these in chests in dungeons. For example, when you are escaping the sewers themselves at the very start of the game, you will find chests containing some Repair hammers.

You can then use this Repair Hammer by making your way into your inventory and then selecting the item. Once you do, this will then open up the repair menu, where you will need to pick the weapons and armor whose durability has decreased and needs immediate mending.

If you have successfully repaired the item, then you will get a chance to increase its durability without breaking the hammer. However, if the hammer breaks, the repair will still go through; you will just lose the hammer in the process.

Your chances of losing the hammer are directly tied to your Armorer skill in Oblivion Remastered. Here are the skill levels and the bonuses that they unlock:

Armorer LevelBonus unlocked
Level 25 (Apprentice)Let’s you repair magic items.
Level 50 (Journeyman)Your Repair hammers will last twice as long
Level 75 (Expert)You will be able to repair armor and weapons beyond their durability, thereby improving them (125 from 100). Improved Weapons deal more damage while Improved Armor soaks more damage.
Level 100 (Master)Your repair hammer will never break, and you can keep using the same hammer over and over.

The best way to level up the Armorer skill will be to have it as one of your Major skills in Oblivion Remastered. This will let the skill level up after gaining just 60% of the total XP that they would otherwise need. You can bring this down to 45% if you are running the proper Class Specialization for it.

2) By using Blacksmiths and Armor Merchants

If you do not have enough Repair Hammer to completely restore your favorite item, you can always visit a Blacksmith or Armor Merchant to replenish its durability. You will find these NPCs in all cities, and for some gold coins, they will be able to completely repair your item.

The amount of gold that they charge will be based on the durability that the item in question has lost. So the items that have completely worn out will require the highest amount of gold.

The prices will also depend on your Mercantile skill. You can raise the level of this skill by making your way to the many Skill Trainers around the map.
