In Deadlock, the odd and the paranormal are a normal part of daily life, as are the monsters that keep popping up to terrorize the populace every now and then. To curb them, a group of monster hunters was formed, known as the Baxter Society.
It was originally founded by Grey Talon after the events of the first Malestrom, and it has since been operating across the world for over 40 years. Grey Talon had eventually retired from his monster-hunting days until something unspeakable happened to his family, but that’s a story for another time.
Other than Talon, Calico is also a former member of the Baxter Society. But she left that life behind her to pursue a career as an assassin for hire, because, according to her, monster hunting doesn’t pay bills.
The Baxter Society operates from its own manor
Currently, Shiv is the only known active member of the Society and was personally recruited by Grey Talon to be his replacement. The other members of the society do not respect him due to his past criminal record, but Shiv aims to change that by participating in the ritual and proving his worth.
The Baxter society operates from a manor that we have not seen in the game yet. Since Deadlock is still in alpha, we have no idea who the other members of the society are, either, but I’m sure we will get to learn and see more of them in the coming years.
There are a few fun facts about the Baxter Society. Firstly, Billy believes that the Baxter Society has not really hunted any monster ever. Although we feel that the goat is probably just ragebaiting at this point.
Secondly, the Paradox organization tried to break into the Baxter manor once, but it went horribly wrong. Hopefully, the full release of the game will give us a more fleshed-out story about the members of the Society, but until then, we will have to keep waiting.
