Wuthering Waves has a combat system that is quite common in many popular gacha games like Genshin Impact.
From being able to switch characters during a fight to using different skills during a battle, here’s everything that you need to know about the combat system in Wuthering Waves.
How does combat work in Wuthering Waves
Wuthering Waves does not have turn-based combat, meaning you and your enemy will be able to launch a barrage of strikes at the same time.
Apart from a regular and a heavy attack, you will be able to use a plunge attack which your character will perform if you jump and attack your enemy.
Normal attacks aside, you also have access to something known as your Forte circuit. Every time you land a hit, you gain fill some of your Forte bar. Once it’s packed, you can trigger either a skill or a heavy attack to deal massive damage to the enemy.

This Forte circuit is unique to all characters in Wuthering Waves and is one of the aspects that determines the playstyle of a character in the game.
Intro and Outro skills
Just like the Forte circuit, whenever you land a hit on an enemy, you’ll gain something known as Concerto energy in Wuthering Waves. Once you’ve filled this bar, make sure you switch your character.
Whenever you do so, the character that you switch from will execute an Outro skill while the one that you switch to during combat will execute their Intro skill in Wuthering Waves.
It’s important that you work on how these two skills can synergize well based on the character loadout that you plan to use for combat scenarios in Wuthering Waves.
Can you dodge while in combat in Wuthering Waves?
Yes, you can dodge while in combat in Wuthering Waves. In fact, if you time your dodge perfectly, then you’ll receive a buff known as Extreme Evasion.
When this buff is active, time will slow down, and your character will execute the last step of their normal attack combo. You will be able to dodge twice before a short internal cooldown, which resets when you switch characters.
