Wuthering Waves’ performance woes continue as players are now facing severe lag and stuttering in the RPG. The issue primarily takes place when coming out of a cut scene or when going to a new environment following a loading screen. It causes a tremendous spike in latency coupled with an FPS drop on rare occasions.
It’s one of the more popular issues in the game along with the “crashing on start-up” and the “vcruntime140_1dll was not found” error.
The bug is primarily a server-side problem, and fortunately, there are a couple of things that you can do to solve it.
How to fix the “Stuttering and Lag” issues in Wuthering Waves
1) Lower Graphics Settings
Lowering the overall graphics settings seems to have worked for many in the community. While it’s not going to guarantee a stutter-less experience, it will, however, minimize the lag and make the game a bit more playable.
2) Change your server
The lag and stuttering problem is a server-side issue in Wuthering Waves. Hence, one way of fixing it will be to change the server you are playing on. You will be able to do this from the Server setting in the main menu.
However, do keep in mind that the cross-save feature is limited. Your progress will not carry over to the new server and the game will force you to start a new game all over again.
Fortunately, as you can come back to your initial server and carry on with the save at any time, it’s recommended that you try out other regions. You might just find a server that gives significantly lower ping and stutters.

3) Check your internet connectivity
Wuthering Waves might be lagging because your internet is facing connectivity issues.
Check that your internet is working optimally by trying out other multiplayer games. If the issue persists on other titles as well, then restart your router or call your internet provider.
4) Make sure you have the recommended hardware settings
The stuttering might happen if you do not meet the recommended system requirements for Wuthering Waves. Make sure you have the following hardware in your system:
Minimum system requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel I5 (9th Gen)/Ryzen 2700
- GPU: Geforce 1060/RX570/Intel ARC A380
- RAM: 16G and above
Recommended System Requirements
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel I7 (9th Gen)/Ryzen 3700
- GPU: Geforce 2060/RX5700XT/Intel ARC A750
- RAM: 16G and above
5) Wait for a patch
Wuthering Waves currently has a lot of errors and performance issues that Kuro Games needs to fix. So if the stuttering issue continues for you then the best course of action will be to wait for a patch from the developers that improves optimization.
What causes the stuttering and lag issues in Wuthering Waves?
The stuttering and lag are usually optimization issues from the server end in Wuthering Waves. As the game has just gotten its official release it can be caused due to server overload along with a tremendous surge in log-ins.
The lag occurs mainly when you:
- Are exiting from a cut scene.
- Going into a new environment following a loading screen.
- Minimizing the game.
While the above solutions won’t guarantee a lag-less experience it will help improve the over all gameplay experience from before.
