League of Legends First Stand international tournament explained

Riot Games has revealed that League of Legends will be getting a new flagship international tournament called First Stand in 2025 (season 15). This will see the best teams from around the world going head-to-head in a week-long event.

The tournament will be quite different than the international events that Riot is currently running, and every region will send one team to the tournament as a representative. Five teams will be competing in total and with the format changes you will be able to see one team from the following regions: LCK, LPL, LEC, LTA, and LCP.

What to expect from League of Legends First Stand?

During the event, each qualified team will be guaranteed to face each other at least once in a best-of-series. It will not be a single match and First Stand will feature the Fearless Draft system.

It will be interesting to see how the international event will pan out once the League of Legends tournament goes live in 2025.

When talking about First Stand, Riot’s Global Head of Strategy Chris Greeley said:

“First Stand is designed to ignite regional rivalries and test innovations, and it’ll see the best team in Split One from each of our five regions face off in early season balance, setting the tone for the competition ahead for the rest of the year. This event will take place at the conclusion of Split One over the course of seven days.”

Greeley has also confirmed that with First Stand hosting consideration for some of the minor regions from LoL Esports will also be something under consideration specially because they will no longer be a minor region from season 15.

When will LoL First Stand start and end?

The League of Legends First Stand will start on March 10, 2025, and end on March 16, 2025. The event will be taking place in Seoul, South Korea.

The start of the First Stand event will be in line with the end of Split 1.
