Pokemon GO Wild Area Special Research path guide

The recently released Pokemon Go Wild Area Special Research presents players with the option of two branching paths. These paths are Electric/Amp It Up and Poison/Keep It Lowkey. With these two options in mind, you may be curious as to which path provides the better reward and/or easier progression system.

As such, a detailed breakdown of the Pokemon GO Wild Area Special Research paths, and their rewards will be listed below for easy reference.

Which path should you pick in the Pokemon GO Wild Area Special Research?

Pokemon Go

Neither path offers a distinct advantage over the other. Both Electric and Poison pathways offer (mostly) similar rewards with the final reward tiers including the following:

The following rewards are part of the initial  ‘An Accomplished Trainer’ Research Story, against the following tasks:

Past this initial Research Story, players will have to choose between the Electric and Poison paths, which consist of the following tasks and rewards, which remain the same for either path:

  • Catch 10 Electric/Poison Pokemon: 3x Razz Berry
  • Explore 1 Km: 1000x Stardust
  • Take Snapshots of 3 unique wild Electric/Poison Pokemon: 10x Great Ball

The final reward tier includes Star Piece x1, Poffin x1 and a Lucky Egg x1

  • Capture 3 Electric/Poison Pokemon with Nice Throws: 3x Pinap Berry
  • Explore with an Electric/Poison type buddy and earn a Candy: 10x Ultra Ball
  • Use an Electric/Poison type buddy to earn 3 Hearts: 1x Fast TM

The final reward tier includes 1000 Stardust.

  • Catch 10 different Electric/Poison Pokemon species: 1000 EXP
  • Power up any Electric/Poison Pokemon 6 times: 1x Lure Module
  • Evolve any 3 Electric/Poison Pokemon: 1x Charge TM

The final reward tier includes 2x Premium Battle Pass, a Golem Encounter and 25x Geodude Candy

  • Power up any Ground type Pokemon 3 times: 3x Hyper Potion
  • Use Supereffective Charged attacks twice: 3x Max Revive
  • Participate in 2 raid battles: 1000 Stardust

The final reward tier includes 2x Super Incubators, 1000 EXP and 3x Toxel Candy.

  • Hatch any 2 Eggs: 2x Lure Module
  • Spin any 20 Gyms or PokeStops: Pikachu Pop/Rock Star
  • Complete any 5 Field Research tasks: 1000 EXP

The final reward tier includes the Electric/Poison Expert Medal, a Dynamax Toxricity (Amped Form/Low Key) and the GO Wild Area 2024 Pose.

You can also obtain the following bonuses from November 25, 2024 to November 29, 2024 (if you complete the Wild Area Special Research, that is):

  • A Timed Research will be granted each day, focused on Electric/Poison Pokemon. Rewards are a Lucky Egg, Stardust and Rare Candy.
  • Doubled damage for Electric/Poison type attacks in raids, Gym Battles and Max Battles.
  • Boosted appearance rates for Team GO Rocket Balloons.
