The newest iteration of Silent Hill is here in the form of Silent Hill f, which is built on top of the dreaded Unreal Engine 5. With that being said, f appears to be a surprise exception to the rule, and the game runs superbly across a wide range of PC hardware.
It’s still not without its issues though, and tweaking a few settings here and there should serve you a vastly superior experience. For this, you can find the optimized settings for playing the game on PC listed below.
Optimized Silent Hill f PC settings

- Screen Mode: Fullscreen, can switch to Borderless Window if needed
- Resolution: 1920×1080@60 Hz; set to your display’s native resolution and maximum supported refresh rate
- Frame Rate Limit: No Limit; might be better to cap this to 60 on handhelds
- V-Sync: Off; only enable if you don’t have a VRR or G-SYNC enabled display
- Panini Projection: Off
- Brightness Settings: Leave at default values
- Preset: Custom; we will be using our own presets here
- Screen Percentage: 100%; lower to 75% if you face performance related issues
- Indirect Lighting: Off; massively tanks FPS – only enable if you have enough horsepower
- Shadow Quality: Medium; can be bumped up to High if you have a more powerful system
- Texture Quality: High; High suffices for most use cases – though it might be wise to lower to Medium if you have 8 GB or less VRAM
- Shader Quality: High; High is fine for most use cases
- Visual Effects Quality: Medium; Medium works reasonably well
- Post Processing Quality: High; High is fine for most use cases
- View Distance Quality: High; High is fine for most use cases and helps render the image clearer
- Anti-Aliasing: DLSS/FSR; DLSS is only supported for Nvidia RTX GPUs – stick to FSR or TSR if you possess cards from AMD or Intel
- Anti-Aliasing Quality: Balanced; drop to Performance if you have weaker hardware
- Motion Blur: Off; Always keep disabled
As fast as performance goes, this one is a surprise. Silent Hill f runs remarkably well on most modern PCs, and doesn’t seem to be too demanding. Although, the game does suffer from stutters, likely a result of shader cache compilation.
