The PlayStation Network (PSN) is in the middle of a major service disruption at the moment, affecting all online services. The disruption began on September 30, 2024 (Monday) and is yet to be resolved.
More on the PSN server issues below, along with some tips on how to fix the same.
Is the PlayStation Network (PSN) down right now?
Unfortunately, the PlayStation Network is still offline as of the time of writing this article. Sony is aware of the issue and is working on a fix, which may take some time to implement.
This can be verified using the PSN Network Service Status website, which has the following categories listed as ‘affected’:
- Account Management
- Gaming and Social
- PlayStation Store
As such, users will not be able to access their PSN accounts, make purchases or play online multiplayer games at the moment.
It is best to remain patient until Sony eventually fixes all affected services.
How to possibly fix the PSN server issues

Check your internet connection
Local network issues can affect your connectivity to PSN services. Common fixes include using an ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi, shifting to broadband instead of using a mobile hotspot, and avoiding the use of VPNs in general.
Restart your PS5
Restarting your PlayStation 5 console can sometimes help with connectivity issues. Restart your console using the DualSense controller, and make sure to do a proper, complete shutdown before proceeding.
Wait for a fix
The solutions listed above are only temporary fixes that may or may not have success in restoring PSN services.
Unfortunately, users will have to wait until Sony releases an official statement that confirms the restoration of these services – if they want a more permanent fix.
The fix may take a while to be implemented though.
In the meanwhile, PlayStation users can choose to enjoy the immense library of single-player, offline titles instead.
