Throne and Liberty complete Traits guide

Traits are a very important part of your endgame progression in Throne and Liberty. These are randomized substats that your equipment gets allowing you to min-max your character even further.

So if you are looking to make the most of your favorite weapon combinations in the MMO you might want to get more familiar with this mechanic. Here is a guide that goes over everything you need to know about the weapon and armor traits mechanic in Throne and Liberty.

How to unlock new Traits in Throne and Liberty

The Trait system only works with gear that is of the Uncommon rarity or above. It allows them to be used in the Equipment Enhancing section and the weapon that you get will already have one default skill unlocked. However, to get more on top of that, here are a few things that you can do:

1) Get a duplicate gear with a different Trait

Unlock Traits through duplicates Throne and Liberty

If you want to provide a weapon or armor with an additional Trait you will need to get a duplicate gear that has a different trait and then fuse them in the Equipment Enhancing section. This is one of the most straightforward methods of unlocking new Traits for gear in Throne and Liberty.

To get more duplicates you will need to speak to the Weapon Crafter and craft the weapon with the materials and resources that you have obtained. As Traits are random you will need to have RnG on your side to get exactly what you are looking for.

2) Use Trait Conversion Stone

Trait Conversion Stones will allow you to convert an unwanted Trait into a different one. You will find this option in the Equipment Enhancement tab as well, however, the new Trait that you get will also be a random one, so you can test out your luck if the existing traits of a gear do not match your build.

Trait Conversion Stones are obtained as a drop from Secret Dungeons, Mystic Globes, Mystic Portals, and Dynamic Events.

You can also buy the stones from the in-game shop and the Battle Pass or exchange them for other goods when interacting with the Guild Merchants.

3) Extracting Traits

Once you reach level 40 you will gain access to the Auction House in Throne and Liberty. Here you will be able to use Trait Extracts to purchase gear that contains what you are looking for. This is one of the more grind-heavy and expensive ways of getting what you want.

You will be able to extract Traits (using Trait Extract Stones) that you do not need from a gear piece and then put it up for sale at the Auction House. Players will then bid on it and the one that wins will get to purchase it.

You can use this method of selling and buying in the Auction House to finally get the Trait that you want.

4) Use Trait Unlockstones

Trait Unlockstones are resources that you earn from completing Codex missions, the various Battle Pass tiers, and other in-game content. You will then be able to use these with locked Traits on Epic rarity gear and unlock a new trait.

You will get to select a skill of your choice and not have to rely on RnG to get what you want. However, Unlockstones are one of the hardest resources to farm and you will need to use them sparingly.

How to upgrade Traits in Throne and Liberty

Upgrade Traits in Throne and Liberty

To upgrade a Trait in Throne and Liberty you will need to have the same gear type that has the same Trait which you are looking to upgrade. The gear does not need to be a duplicate, it just has to be of the same type.

So to upgrade the Trait of a chestpiece you will need another chetpiece that has the Trait. When you have it, head to the Equipment Enhancement tab to upgrade the Trait.

If you are using items of the same rarity, you will be guaranteed a Trait upgrade. However, if the item you are using as fodder is of lower rarity, the success rate will drop to 10% for a single-tier difference or 1% if there is a two-tier difference.

Fortunately, if you fail to upgrade the Trait of a gear piece, you will fill up the Blessing’s Bar for the gear. Once the bar is maxed, your next attempt will guarantee a Trait upgrade.
