While Xbox may have given PlayStation the green signal to go rule the console hardware market, everyone is eagerly waiting to see how the new Xbox Ally fares in the handheld space.
With the design and the specs leaking earlier, a new leak suggests that the device might be a bit more expensive than the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s worth noting here that the two handhelds, while technically gaming devices, serve two different fanbases entirely.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has its dedicated set of games, while the ROG Xbox Ally is aimed at games that are already available on the Xbox consoles and Windows desktops. So, the difference in price is expected but it’s hard to say if it’s something that fans are looking forward towards, because the Steam Deck exists.
ROG Xbox Ally Price Leaked
According to a leak shared by 3djuegos, the new ROG Xbox Ally is expected to launch at a price of €599 ($700 / £520), approximately $70 more than what the Switch 2 costs.
Additionally, the ROG Xbox Ally X is being priced at €899 ($1,050 / £780). Both these prices are speculation for now, because the official sources are yet to reveal a proper price for the product.
These prices were allegedly revealed through a preview on Asus’ website, but aren’t available at the time of writing this articly.
The handheld device is expected to come with two different specs, a cheaper one with a 512GB storage, and a more expensive one with a 1TB storage.
While both the regular one and the X will boast of a 7″ FHD screen, the former will have a battery with 60Wh capacity while the latter will come with a battery of 80Wh.
Compared to the Switch 2, these are powerful specs indeed. However, when it comes to the Valve’s handheld, the Steam Deck’s most expensive variant is priced at $649, but comes with a battery of 45Wh, which the ROG Xbox Ally X might end up outclassing.
Once again, all the information that you see here is based off leaks, so take them with a pinch of salt for the time being.
