A new wave of news surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI has hit the fanbase really hard once again. Because it might just be the reconning of another delay. These new reports suggest that the game might see another wave of delay.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, who recently appeared on a Button Mash podcast episode to talk about the anticipated games of this year. According to him, the November 2026 release date for GTA VI seems very unachievable at the moment.
Of course, this fresh news has not been received lightly by the people who have already gone through multiple delays since last year. Even though nothing is officially confirmed, social media is amok with posts and reactions over this news.
The reasons for a possible GTA VI Delay
The details from the podcast amount to a few news pieces that lead to major speculation. The GTA team is reportedly still unsure about the final set pieces of the game.
“People are still finishing things up, finalizing levels, missions, seeing what’s going to make it into the game.” Meaning they are still working on missions to be added and content to be cut.
If this turns out to be true, then it just confirms that there is no way the game can hit its release window by the current timeline. Rockstar still has a long stretch of polish work to go through before the game is even out.

“The stakes are so high. They can’t settle for anything less than perfection.” GTA VI is no doubt taking a massive toll on Rockstar because the stakes are incredibly high. This is going to be one of the single most important video game releases of the decade, so quality cannot be compromised.
It’s highly likely that the company is betting on letting go of another missed release date rather than missing out on perfection for the product. What also adds to the delay speculation is the news regarding major Rockstar studio layoffs recently.
There were fears of this fueling another delay, and it seems like these new developments are finally moving towards that direction.
What we know about GTA VI so far
Grand Theft Auto VI was officially revealed in 2023, confirming 2025 as the probable release window, which it has now missed. This reveal came after years of rumors with the fandom trying to speculate over the game’s many details.
Regardless, the reveal was met with exceptional reactions. The first trailer for the game still sits at over 200 million views. Fans braced themselves for an eventual delay because this is part of the tradition with Rockstar’s major game releases.
The initial release window was never met, so the next delay was also well expected. Good thing for the fans, Rockstar had prepared another trailer which seemed to reveal further details regarding the maps and characters of the game, blowing minds with the new Rage Engine visuals.
Now it seems like the game is inevitably heading towards another delay. Though official news still stands that the game will be meeting its current release window, 19 November 2026. In case another delay hits, Rockstar will very likely drop a new trailer revealing further details about gameplay.
