During the course of Final Fantasy XIV’s A Realm Reborn main questline, the Tupsimati became one of the more important tools in dealing with the Ascian threat. The staff was initially wielded by Louisoix Leveilleur, who led the Circle of Knowing before the Seventh Umbral Calamity took place.
The Archon sacrificed himself while sealing Bahamut, who had just broken out of the lesser moon Dalamud, and was laying waste to the entirety of the Carteneau Flats. The staff broke in the process and was initially considered to be lost in the battlefield, before it was ultimately recovered by Kan-E-Senna.
How did Kan-E-Senna find Louisoix’s Tupsimati in Final Fantasy XIV?
After the Seventh Umbral Calamity took place, the Elder Seedseer stayed back in Carteneau to look for survivors and aid those in need. For days, she would venture out with her search party, and amidst all the carnage, she wove the incantations that would close wounds and ease anguish, bringing solace to the suffering.
However, with every expedition, the chances of finding new survivors grew thinner. And after several days, when she started feeling that she was letting her people down by continuing her stay in Carteneau, did Kan-E-Senna finally order her forces back to Gridania?
But before completely withdrawing, she stepped onto the Flats one final time, thinking that her work was not completely done. She had caught traces of the Archon’s staff before, but she was too busy healing and looking for survivors to do anything about it.
So this time she started tracing the tatters of her memory and the aetheric currents in the air. Kan-E-Senna scoured the battlefield for hours, till she finally found the tattered remains of Tupsimati, nestled in the lee of a blackened crag.
Now, days later, when overseeing the reconstruction of Gridania, she was reunited with two members of Master Louisoix’s Circle of Knowing: Yda and Papalymo, who had stayed behind to lend their aid to Gridania in her time of need.
It was to them that she bequeathed the remains of Tupsimati. And although heartbroken at first, Papalymo composes himself and thanks the Elder Seedseer for recovering the staff. He states that it could only be wielded by Louisoix, and he shudders to think what would have happened if it fell into the wrong hands.
So this is how the broken Tupsimati came to be one of the most prized possessions of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, finally making its way to the walls of Minfilia’s quarters in the Waking Sands.
