There are some amazing anime characters out there with some of the best sense in fashion. We do talk about how much we love certain characters. Their abilities, if it is a supernatural action show, or just the general vibe of the character. But we never stopped to actually take a look at how well-dressed some of these anime characters are.
Today, we are going to sit down and talk about some of the best anime characters ever with amazing fashion sense.
Amazing Sense Of Fashion In Anime Characters
Momo Ayase (Dandadan)

This isn’t the first time we are talking about Dandadan, and won’t be the last time either. This show suddenly dropped out of the blue, produced by the talented people at Science Saru. It is also a show that has one of the most fashionable characters in modern anime.
Dandadan is written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. If you read the manga, then the design of some of the characters will blow you away cause of how stylish they are. This is mostly reflected through Momo Ayase, one of the main characters, who is a psychic.
From her very first appearance, we see that she has an amazing sense of high school fashion. Moving further in the manga, we find her in different stylish outfits throughout the show.
In the anime, she even hints at her obsession with being well-dressed at all times. Momo Ayase is definitely one of the few characters in an anime with amazing fashion sense.
Bulma (Dragon Ball)

We all know that Dragon Ball is one of the biggest shounen manga and anime from the 90s. It single-handedly popularized the medium globally, making way for more anime outside Japan.
But beyond the high-octane action sequences of Dragon Ball Z or the gags of early Dragon Ball, we often forget that the show at times exuded some fine fashion sense. We have seen it happen in the infamous filler episode where Goku and Piccolo try to get their driver’s licenses. Vegeta, in a pink shirt, has become a cultural icon over the internet.
But there’s one character who far outshone all these examples and kept reminding people that Akira Toriyama had a good grasp on fashion. The character is Bulma, ever since her introduction in Dragon Ball, from her young age to Dragon Ball Super.
We have seen Bulma constantly changing her look, with even different hairstyles for each of the arcs. This is why Bulma is also one of the best anime characters with an amazing sense of fashion.
Ichigo (Bleach)

It is very well known in the Bleach fandom that the series creator, Kubo Tite has an incredible taste in fashion. We constantly see this reflected throughout the series, with various character designs, be it one of the protagonists or the enemies.
Everyone in Bleach looks constantly dripped out in fashion. This becomes more prevalent if you are reading the manga, because the medium constantly gets special cover art. Kubo Tite made sure to represent his characters in a fashionable state every time there is colored cover art.
This is especially relevant for Ichigo, the face of Bleach. We have constantly seen him well-dressed in the covers of the manga. Even beyond that, we got a taste of Ichigo’s fashion sense from the intro of the Bleach anime.
Sailor Uranus (Sailor Moon)

Sailor Moon is another big show from the 90s that rose to popularity and helped the medium of anime with global recognition. It’s a show that revolutionised the magical girl genre and helped create a space for strong female characters.
The original manga was created by Naoko Takeuchi. If you have ever seen clips of the show floating around on the internet, you will quickly notice that she had a strong sense of fashion. This was reflected in her characters, which were unlike most other shows of the time.
When the girls are not in their regular sailor superhero outfits, they are out showing off some of the best casual fashion-wear known to mankind. But out of all of the girls, Sailor Uranus is the one character who won the hearts of the fans for her amazing fashion sense.
She could slip into any kind of fashion wear throughout the show, and it would all look natural for her. This was helped by making the character have a strong androgynous representation.
Nana Osaki (NANA)

NANA is an anime series that is near and dear to a lot of people’s hearts. It is one of the best works of manga artist Ai Yazawa, and unfortunately, the anime was cut short. The manga has been on hiatus for the longest time due to issues concerning the creator’s health.
All that is beside the point; we are here to talk about fashion, and characters in NANA have incredible fashion sense. This is reflected throughout Ay Yazawa’s previous works as well. But it all comes into bloom with her work in NANA, especially through the character of Nana Osaki.
Being a musician, she is the embodiment of Punk rock and Japanese street fashion. Her beautiful piercings and fashion wear constantly change throughout the show. She is also one of the reasons why the fanbase still fondly remembers the show. Nana is simply one of the best characters out there with amazing fashion sense.
Kaneda (Akira)

Akira is totally not an anime movie that should have anything to do with fashion. It tells the grim tale of a dystopian cyberpunk future where humanity has lost its sanity. Society is collapsing, and there’s a huge conflict between technology and religious fanaticism.
Despite all of that, the global impact of Akira was so important that it influenced every kind of sector. It influenced film directors, game developers, animators, and the cyberpunk genre. But most importantly, it was exceptionally influential for street wear.
The character who was primarily responsible for this influence was none other than the protagonist of the movie, Kaneda. His full red outfit, which comprised a red biker jacket, pants, and boots that went well with the iconic red bike, has become the face of the movie.
The iconic bike slide scene became famous because it caught everyone’s attention. Kaneda’s full-on red silhouette contrasts heavily with everything else in that scene. This design choice was brilliant and heavily impacted pop culture. The scene ended up being referenced in almost all of the media in existence.
Kaneda is pretty much one of the most amazing characters from the late 80s to have an incredible sense of fashion.
Tomoyo Daidouji (Cardcaptor Sakura)

Clamp Studio was very influential back in the 90s and early 2000s, having made some of the most iconic fantasy anime. Shows such as Cardcaptor Sakura and xxxHolic were some of the well-remembered ones for every ’90s anime fan.
Taking a closer look at Cardcaptor Sakura, the show is your typical take on the magical girl genre. It follows the daily adventures of Sakura Kinamoto, who comes across dangerous magical cards that must be contained before some catastrophe occurs.
She is aided by a magical being lovingly nicknamed Kero, and a school friend named Tomoyo Daidouji. She is the kind of friend we wish we all had back in the day. Because Tomoyo is responsible for Sakura getting her daily fitness check.
She literally brings her a vehicle full of incredibly well-designed magical girl costumes every time Sakura has to go out and fight. All because it’s a hobby for Tomoyo, and she wants to record her during battle.
So, even though we should be saying that Sakura is one of the most fashionable characters in anime. It is actually her assistant, Tomoyo, who is literally one of the coolest side characters, with an amazing sense of fashion.
Marin Kitagawa (My Dress-Up Darling)

My Dress-Up Darling is a show that has been pretty new and gotten quite popular recently. It’s a cute romance story with some relatively average characters. But the main premise of the show surrounds cosplay fashion.
Cosplay has become a growing part of modern pop culture. It’s no longer restricted to dingy anime conventions that everyone thought were for weird people. Nowadays, we see even celebrities cosplay and talk about some of their favorite characters from games and anime.
The My Dress-Up Darling character who is central to our topic is Marin Kitagawa. A very stylish and extroverted high schooler who wants to cosplay but is really bad at designing costumes. She meets Wakana Gojo, an extremely talented designer.
Thus, it treats us to a story filled with some cute costume designs coupled with Marin’s amazing fashion sense, and a pinch of cozy romance.
Dio Brando (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)

You were probably looking for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure throughout this list, so here it is, finally. We definitely couldn’t have made a list talking about fashion sense in anime and leave out the anime series that represents it the best.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure was written by Hirohiko Araki, and it is a series from the late 80s, being one of the longest running manga franchises. Araki sensei’s works are exploding with deep references to high fashion culture. Every special cover art, character costumes, poses in the anime are references to fashion magazines and other media alike.
It’s hard to single out just one character from the franchise because, to be fair, everyone in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has an amazing sense of fashion. But still, there is one character who is eternal to the series and has influenced cosplay culture/fashion a lot.
He is Dio Brando, the everliving vampire whom we have seen time and time again throughout the series. Starting with the first manga, donning proper Victorian fashion. To the modern era, where we see him in some iconic costumes.
Dio Brando is that one character who definitely has one of the best fashion senses out of all the anime characters ever.
Faye Vaentine (Cowboy Bebop)

Cowboy Bebop needs no introduction, just like Akira on this list. It’s a show from the late 90s that was incredibly influential, like a lot of the shows on this list. Created by the legendary anime director, it’s a show about a bunch of bounty hunters in the far future.
The focus of the show is not like other sci-fi cyberpunk shows that explore the future world. Cowboy Bebop is more about the characters, and there are some really good characters with amazing designs in this anime.
The star of the show is Faye Valentine, who is the favorite in the fandom. She is a mysterious character whose story is revealed slowly throughout the show. But other than that, Faye is one of the best characters with an amazing sense of fashion.
Over the course of watching the show, we obviously get to see her iconic outfit. Yellow shirt and shorts contrasted beautifully with a red jacket, which she wears loosely, and high heels with matching colors.
Every aspect pieces together an amazing and beautiful female character who can also be dangerous. Beyond the main outfit, she is also seen wearing other sorts of fashionable dresses, which she sometimes used to disguise herself.
