Since the new year is here and breathing down our necks, we should start to look out for some of the top anime that are going to air in January. Seasonal anime is a common affair now that the medium has become so mainstream.
But there are also hidden gems that should not be left out just because one wants to catch up on the finale of their favorite anime. So we have decided to make a comprehensive list, recommending some of the shows to look out for through the month of January.
January 2026 Anime to Look Out for
Fate/Strange Fake

January 3, 2026
The Fate franchise is one of the most recognized anime universes that spans across multiple media. It was created by Kinoko Nasu and is a part of the greater Nasu-verse stories. Last year, we got teased with the newest entry in the franchise.
Finally, we are going to move into the new year with the Fate/Strange Fake series fully dropping in the early week of January. This will be a direct adaptation of the light novel with the same title, written by Ryogo Narita.
Journal with Witch

January 4, 2026
If you are quite tired of the same ups and downs in action-packed anime, which are the majority, then maybe a little bit of breathing room in the middle would not be too bad. By which we mean that you might want to keep an eye out for Journal with Witch.
This is going to be a simple yet heartbreaking show that follows the odd relationship between a reclusive novelist and her young niece, who has just lost her parents in an accident. Journal with Witch is set to air on 4th January and will be produced by studio Shuka.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2

January 5, 2026
While all of us are still reeling from the conclusion of one of the biggest shounen anime of the current decade, we must not forget that the story of the My Hero Academia universe is not over.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes started airing in 2025, and everyone initially assumed that it was going to be a one-off deal. But fast forward to now, and it has potentially become as popular as the main show.
The anime follows the adventures of street-level superheroes who are still not officially licensed. If it sounds intriguing, you’d better start watching right now, before season 2 starts airing in January.
Golden Kamuy Season Finale

January 5, 2026
On the same date as My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, we are finally going to see the concluding season for another one of the best shows from this decade, Golden Kamuy, finally start airing. It is a shame that more people have never tried exploring further into this ridiculous show.
Golden Kamuy was created by Satoru Noda, and it is a historical show that follows a 20th-century setting against the backdrop of the Russo-Japanese wars. The show has spawned multiple media over the years, even including a live-action one.
Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube Part 2

January 7, 2026
While a lot of fans may have jumped on the Hell Teacher train last year, only a few of them know that the original source material is based on a manga from the 90s. In fact, the Hell Teacher that the current generation of young fans is watching is a remake of the anime from the 90s.
Hell Teacher follows the story of homeroom teacher Meisuke Nueno, from Domori Elementary. He has an alternate identity as a skilled exorcist, fighting to fend off supernatural threats.
Early January 2026, we will finally see Nube return for the next half of this series, to use his demon hand in aiding himself in the protection of people.
The Darwin Incident

January 7, 2026
If you are not looking to follow up on a typical seasonal show, but are ready for something fresh that this new year will offer, then The Darwin Incident is something that should be right up your alley.
Originally created by Shun Umezawa, the manga presents to us a very interesting scenario where the world discovers a half-human half half-chimpanzee being. The source material was crowned with the award of excellence by the Japan Media Arts Festival, and we cannot wait to see what this anime has in store.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

Jaunary 9, 2026
My Hero Academia‘s story might have concluded, but there are still a lot of popular anime with plots that remain to be unfolded. In fact, one of the major shows will be coming back for its third season early next year.
We are, of course, talking about Jujutsu Kaisen, the show that blew up everyone’s minds with its animation thanks to studio MAPPA’s talented animators. But that’s not all, the anime presents to us an incredible take on modern-day sorcerers fending off deadly curses that may destroy the world.
Fire Force Season 3 Part 2

January 10, 2026
Atsushi Ohkubo is a manga creator who is known for a lot of things. This includes the famous Soul Eater anime series, as well as being the mentor to Kei Urana, the creator of Gachiakuta. It is one of the most popular anime from 2025.
If you want to know what he has been up to in recent years, then be aware that you probably have come across his newest work, and that is Fire Force. A show that takes firefighters to new supernatural and action-packed heights.
The finale of the third season of Fire Force will be airing pretty soon in January next year. So if you had plans to catch up before it ends, now is the time.
Hell’s Paradise Season 2

January 11, 2026
Slightly under the radar but still having the potential to stand tall with some of the well-known shows, Hell’s Paradise is a gift for fans of anime. It was created by Yuji Kaku, and in 2023 had its first season air, introducing viewers to the world of Gabimaru the Hollow.
We are about to step into the first month of 2026, which will finally see the anime return with its second season. While some of us are still eagerly waiting to see where the story is going to go next, the rest of the anime fans can finally catch up on January 11th.
