There are plenty of farming related games to choose from, and Build an Island is just one of the many Roblox games you can play. Thanks to a recent update, it is now possible to have animals inhabit your islands, but the process is a bit involved and expensive.

Starter, Farm and Elite eggs can be earned by simply playing through the game. However, you will have to spend Robux to get Exotic eggs. Pets spawned from these eggs can be of the regular, gold or rainbow variety.
How to get more animals in Build an Island
To get your first animal, try expanding your island from the right side, (close to the Merchant), and make a bridge that leads to the Island Barn. Reach the region to grab your first barn, along with two eggs (1 regular + 1 premium).
Assuming you have enough money, you can grab your first two pets from here. Any new animals that spawn will be immediately added to your inventory. Equip them and place them within the barn to complete the process (and have them restricted to an enclosed area).
These animals feed on Heybale. Every time they feed, they generate a set amount of Gold. As a general rule of thumb, the rarer the animal, the more Gold it generates while consuming Haybalde. You can also collect their droppings, which are sold for 100 Gold each!
