Unicorns in Deadlock are Powerful but not Divine

Deadlock definitely has a lot of characters in its cast who are designed after horror tropes. But there are also supernatural beings in the game that are not specifically horror inclined, like Rem, and the character we are going to focus on right now, Celeste.

As a performer hailing from Coney Island, The Dazzling Celeste is loved by the crowd for her tricks. But this way of life is just a disguise, since secretly she is a unicorn. These are creatures that have to live everyday life in Deadlock’s world in fear of poachers.

This is why everyday life on stage as a performer is the most natural way of disguise for her. She even found a new home with the people at work, who became her beloved found-family.

One of the most selfless characters in Deadlock

But it all changed when one of them got into trouble. Celeste found out that one of her own had to sell their souls after falling for a gambling debt trap. That’s when she chose to no longer hide and make her way into the streets of Cursed Apple, even at the risk of losing her disguise.

This is precisely the crux of what makes her wish for the summoning ritual so special. Desire for a miracle from the patrons which will give her close one their soul back. But she still fears revealing her identity as a unicorn to everyone.

From this, we can speculate that Unicorns in the world of Deadlock are probably super-important supernatural beings. But since Deadlock is still in its alpha stages of development, we cannot know what is going on for certain.

Despite all of Celeste’s troubles, the most hilarious aspect of this whole ordeal is that characters in the game absolutely refuse to believe that Unicorns exist. Most even think that Celeste’s horn is a fake prop glued to her head.

Celeste has a bit of comedic timing with her tricks

It is also currently unknown if every Unicorn in the world of Deadlock looks exactly like humans, as Celeste does. The only piece of lore about their history so far that we get to know from her is that Unicorns come from the woods.

As vague and mysterious as all of this sounds, Celeste’s human side is where genuinely the best aspects of her lie. She is a hilarious character who constantly finds herself in comedic situations.

It may not look it from Celeste’s gameplay, but she frequently gets into accidents during her performances and trainings. She even used to perform one of her abilities called light eater, which got her into a situation with multiple lawsuits.

One fun fact about Celeste is that she never forgets to compliment the female cast of characters in Deadlock. A few of them include Mina’s dress, Haze’s tie and eyes, and even Calico’s voice.
