Most chapters in Doom The Dark Ages come with additional challenges that will allow you to get your hands on additional upgrade materials and weapon skins when completed. There are a total of 22 chapters or missions in the shooter, and a majority of these come with side missions that you should honestly be looking to complete.

All Mission Challenges in Doom The Dark Ages
Completing challenges in the various chapters will reward you with various items, including weapon skins, gold, as well as rubies. Most challenges will be available from the very start of a stage, however, you will find that there are some that are tied to some specific guns or runes. You will find these special challenges in the challenges menu when you have put on the gear that is linked to the challenge.
Chapters 1-3 have no challenges to speak of, it’s from chapter 4 that you will frequently find the side missions.
