Best Elden Ring Nightfarer Classes Ranked

Elden Ring Nightreign takes a page out of Fortnite, and then applies a souls-like twist to it. Unlike the original, this multiplayer spin-off gives you access to eight premade classes, also known as Nightfarers.

These Nightfarers have different abilities and skill kits, and are based on major characters commonly seen in most RPG franchises like Diablo and Dungeons & Dragons.

The power parity amongst all the eight classes are same, but the difference lies in their playstyles thanks to their ability kits. You’ll have to experiment and see which one suits you best if you want to make the most out of Elden Ring Nightreign.

Every Nightfarer in Elden Ring Nightreign Ranked

1. Wylder

  • Passive: Sixth Sense. Allows you to resurrect after dying the first time in a single playthrough. Ability is restored if you pass through a Site of Grace.
  • Character Skill: Claw Shot. Use a claw to close the gap between you and an enemy, or use it to break their guard. You can also bring down an enemy with it, but it doesn’t work on all of them.
  • Ultimate: Onslaught Stake. Launch a single iron stake that pierces the enemy and explodes, causing massive AoE damage.

The Wylder is a balanced Nightfarer which makes it the perfect stepping stone if this is your first Soulslike title. Don’t expect a lot of damage from it because it’s not tailored to do that. It’s built to help you stay alive and smack the boss bit by bit.

2. Ironeye

  • Passive: Eagle Eye. You get more drops from defeated enemies, and these drops are applicable for all members of the team.
  • Character Skill: Markings. You create a temporary mark on the enemy. Deal additional damage to increase the duration of this mark. If you keep hitting this mark, the enemy gets staggered and takes more damage.
  • Ultimate: Single Shot. Fire a single arrow which pierces through defences and structures, dealing damage.

For the first time, Ironeye is an archer class that Bandai Namco is actually paying attention to. While bows are available as weapons in Elden Ring, Nightreign actually built on the archer Nighfarer, which makes it an interesting choice of class.

3. Duchess

  • Passive: Magnificent Poise. You can dodge and attack two consecutive times swiftly at reduced stamina cost.
  • Character Skill: Restage. Whatever damage your team has dealt in the past few seconds, can be reapplied to the enemy.
  • Ultimate: Finale. Cast an invisibility spell on yourself and your team to disorient the enemy and leave them vulnerable to an attack.

The Duchess is a strategic Nightfarer, that can deal damage to enemies up close and personal. It’s best paired with the Ironeye, because they’re capable of dealing a temporary mark on the enemy where they take more damage.

4. Executor

  • Passive: Tenacity. You get a short boost when you’re recovering from different status effects.
  • Character Skill: Cursed Sword. Use a Cursed Sword, which is capable of deflecting enemy attacks for a short duration.
  • Ultimate: Aspects of the Crucible Beasts. Turn into a Primordial Beast for a short duration while fighting the enemy.

The Executor is a class which is based on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. If you choose to play as this character, you’ll be working to parry and deflect a lot of attacks. This class is tailored for players who’ve invested a fair share of hours in soulslike games.

5. Guardian

  • Passive: Steel Guard. Gets a more powerful guard, reinforced by a raised shield. While it increases your temporary defense but you won’t be able to run with your shield up.
  • Character Skill: Whirlwind. The Guardian can beat his wings to create a huge whirlwind to deflect some smaller projectiles, and can also stagger smaller enemies. The whirlwind’s size can be increased by charging it up.
  • Ultimate: Wings of Salvation. Dive bomb from the air and protect your allies from damage. You don’t have enough movement when in air though.

The Guardian is a flying birdman, who uses a huge lance and a shield to deal damage from a distance. This Nightfarer, while capable of defending and stunning most enemies, doesn’t have enough mobility.

6. Recluse

  • Passive: Elemental Defense. Collecting Elemental Residues replenishes FP, and also gives allies certain bonuses through specific Elemental Residues.
  • Character Skill: Magic Cocktail. Combine Elemental Residues into spells. Complex combinations yield more powerful spells. Additionally, enemy affinity residue can be used to create affinity-exploiting magic.
  • Ultimate: Soundblood Song. Mark enemies with specific sigils that cause them to take extra damage, and give you a short FP and HP boost.

The Recluse is your typical DPS/Support class which forms the backbone of every team composition. While your primary goal is to deal damage to the enemy, you’ll also help your teammates by giving them special buffs. Unfortunately, you cannot heal your team with this class.

7.Raider

  • Passive: Fighter’s Resolve. This passive boosts the character skill Retaliate. When using it, the enemy cannot knock you down. And even if you take a lot of damage, if your character skill is active, you will not die.
  • Character Skill: Retaliate. When you take damage, you’ll assume a defensive posture and punch the enemy to stagger them for a brief period.
  • Ultimate: Totem Stela. Summon a huge totem which generates a shield that blocks incoming ranged attacks. Also boosts the character stats who are within the shield.

The Raider is technically a Tank DPS role, and is focused on absorbing most of the damage while the remaning members of the team go for a sustained DPS on the bosses. It has a slight learning curve to it, so you might not want to pick it up if you’re not experienced with soulslike games like Elden Ring Nightreign.

8. Revenant

  • Passive: Necromancy. Raise ghosts to fight the enemy.
  • Character Skill: Summon Spirit. Play the lyre to summon a fallen familiy of spirits to help you fight in battle.
  • Ultimate: Immortal March. Make you and your allies immortal for a short duration to aid survivability during boss fights.

This is more of a support character so don’t expect to deal a lot of damage. Additionally, it’s best if you don’t choose the Revenant if you’re going to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo.

Which is the best class in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Based on the ease of use, the Wylder is the best class in Elden Ring Nightreign. It’s an allrounder and is aimed at all types of players, beginners and veterans.

However, if you’re a seasoned player, and you want to get some more damage out of your attacks, go with the Ironeye. Not only does the class deal a lot of damage by itself, it also enables other Nightfarers to deal more damage in Elden Ring Nightreign.
