All major additions in Minecraft’s The Garden Awakens update

Minecraft’s The Garden Awakens update goes live later today, December 3, 2024, and will introduce a slew of creepy content in the game. One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming patch is the introduction of the Pale Garden biome.

The new region will contain a new mob called the Creaking who has a unique mechanic that you will need to understand if you wish to beat them. Moreover, The Garden Awakens update also receives a unique set of block palettes like resins and pale oak wood.

Here is a guide that goes over the most important changes that are making their way to Minecraft with the Pale Garden Biome.

Minecraft The Garden Awakens major updates and introductions

1) The Creaking Mob and the Creaking Heart

Beat the Creaking Mob Minecraft

As mentioned, the Creaking is the new mob coming to Minecraft with the upcoming The Garden Awakens update. They have a unique mechanic, where you will not be able to defeat them by directly attacking them.

The Creaking takes no damage and will attack you if you are not looking directly at them. They have a decent aggro radius and because of their tree-like structure, they are very hard to spot. So if you are in their aggro range (32-block radius) and are not facing them, they will start chasing you and wipe you out with their attacks.

To beat the Creaking you will need to track the particle trail coming out of them and follow it a Creaking Heart inside a pale oak tree. You will need to break the heart to disable all the Creaking mobs in the area.

2) Pale Oak trees and blocks

You will find Pale Oak trees in the Pale Garden biome. You can break them down to make blocks that look like a ghostly variant of the normal wood that you get in Minecraft. They are perfect at making buildings and structures that will make them have a haunted appeal because of their whitish tones.

They are perfect for storytelling and if you are looking to make a haunted mansion and spawning the Creaking inside the buildings.

3) New Resin bricks and blocks

How to get and use Resin Bricks in Minecraft

A whole new range of resin bricks and blocks is coming to Minecraft with The Garden Awakens update. Their bright red color forms a nice contrast with the otherwise ghastly Pale Oak and there are a lot of unique structures that you can build by combining the two.

You will be able to make resin bricks by acquiring the resin clumps that are dropped by the Creaking Heart after you break it. Once you have enough clumps you will then be able to smelt them into bricks.

Apart from their aesthetic appeal, resin bricks can be made into slabs, stairways, and other standard blocks. So there are a lot of things that you will be able to use them in.

4) Pale Moss variants

The Pale Garden biome will feature pale moss variants as well which include the following:

  • Standard pale moss
  • Hanging pale moss
  • Moss Carpets

Each of these variants will have a visual texture that is unique to them, but overall they will feature a faded-green aesthetic that you can combine with pale oak blocks. The hanging pale moss in particular makes a spooky sound when it’s attached to pale oak.

5) Eyeblossoms

Eyeblossoms Minecraft

Eyeblossom is a new type of flower hitting Minecraft with The Garden Awakens. They look a lot like the Creaking from a distance, but are harmless and can be harvested and used for decorative purposes.

The flower only blooms at night and when its petals open, it can affect flowers that are nearby and force them to bloom as well.

Apart from its aesthetic appeal, Eyeblossom can be used for crafting as well. Once you have a fair amount of them in your inventory, you can cook suspicious stews with them. Moreover, depending on whether they are open or closed you can also use them to make orange or white dyes.
