How to Parry in Black Myth Wukong

Parry isn’t a skill you’ll get immediate access to in Black Myth: Wukong, unlike most action games. It is an unlockable skill, and unless you know how to, you are pretty much stuck dodging and timing your attacks.

So, if you are jumping into the adventures of the Destined One and want to learn how to parry, this guide will help you. So, let’s check it out!

How to unlock the Parry skill in Black Myth Wukong

Contrary to what people might say, Black Myth Wukong has a proper parry system. However, it is hidden behind the game progression. The parry skill in-game is named “Rock Solid.” This skill lets you parry any incoming attack from your enemies, given you time it correctly.

To unlock Rock Solid, you must progress the storyline and defeat the Tiger Vanguard boss. You encounter this boss at the Crouching Tiger Temple in Chapter 2 of the game, and this is a mandatory boss fight. However, you’ll meet the Headless Minstrel NPC once you defeat Tiger Vanguard. He will teach you the Rock Solid Spell, and you’ll gain access to parry!

How to use the Parry in Black Myth Wukong

To use the Rock Solid spell in Black Myth Wukong, you’ll have to choose it from your Alterations. However, since this is an alteration-type spell, it will conflict with Cloud Step. So, to use Rock Solid parry in Black Myth: Wukong, you must switch out of Cloud Step in the Alteration menu and select Rock Solid.

Once you do that, you can parry in Black Myth Wukong. It turns you into a solid rock for a few seconds and parries any incoming attack. Rock Solid takes 30 Mana to perform the parry and has a forgiving parry window. However, you’ll have to wait 15 seconds for the skill to complete the cooldown.

And like any alteration, you can further unlock perks to improve Rock Solid. Here are the perks:

  • Rapid Return: You can cancel Rock Solid.
  • Rock Mastery: Slightly reduces the cooldown.
  • Nick of Time: Successful deflection gives a good amount of focus.
  • Ironclad: Successful deflection reduces damage for a short time.
  • Upper Hand: Successful deflection increases the damage of the light attack starter.
  • Bold Venture: You can recover a small amount of mana after successful deflection; the deflection window narrows.

So, that is how you parry in-game. Sure, it takes a while to get access to parrying. However, once you get it, you can make the Destined One even more of a menace against your enemies.
