With The Final Shape expansion, you will be able to get your hands on the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic auto rifle in Destiny 2. However, it’s one of the harder Exotics to obtain in the title, and you will have to invest in a lot of leg work to finally get it.
From unlocking the legendary weapon itself and then collecting every single Mote of Light, it takes a lot of time to get it.
Below are all the necessary steps that you will need to take to unlock the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic auto rifle in Destiny 2.
How to get the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic in Destiny 2
You will be able to unlock the Exotic version of the Legendary weapon by following these steps:
Step 1: Access Region Chests to get every Lost Encryption
The first thing you will need to do is to get the Legendary Khvostov rifle itself and to do that you must find 15 Lost Encryption Bits. You will be able to get them from two particular sources:
- Region Chests
- Cysts
The Region Chests are located all around The Pale Heart. You will find them marked on your map and upon reaching them you will see some golden chests. Here is the location of every Pale Heart region chest in Destiny 2.
To get the final 6 encryption bits you will need to complete all of the Cyst missions. These quests are replayable and you will find them marked all over the map in Destiny 2.
However, you will need to complete the Alone in the Dark quest line first.
Here are all the Cyst missions you will need to complete to get the Encryption Bits:
- Sword Dance
- Searing Light
- Aerial Ace
- Slayer
- Moth-Infested Cavern
- Smothering Darkness
Once you have collected all 15 of the Lost Encryption bits, you will complete the Lost Encryption Code.
Step 2: Get the Legendary Kostov by using the Lost Encryption Code
Once you have the code you will need to make your way to the Impasse and and head inside the Cosmodrome through the game in the wall.
Now keep moving along the path till you reach a corner. Take the bend and you will come across a Regional Chest. This is the exact same location where you got the original Kostov in Destiny 2.
Interact with the chest and your character will automatically pick up the Legendary Kostov.
Step 3: Obtain every Mote of Light
To unlock the Exotic version of the weapon you will need to get your hands on 17 Motes of Light. There are two ways of getting all of them:
- Collecting them from Visions of the Traveler: These will give you 8 Motes of Light.
- Overthrow bosses: There are 9 Overthrow bosses and defeating each will grant you one Mote of Light.
Visions of the Traveler are statues that are located all across The Pale Heart.
The Overthrow bosses can be found at the end of each Overthrow zone. There are three such zones and complete the activity in each of them to reach the three bosses in the end.
Once you have obtained all the Motes of Light, they will then transform into the Mote of Primordial Light.
Step 4: Get the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic as a reward
Once you have the Mote of Primordial Light, head to the south of The Lost City Tower. This is the same palace where you talked to Cayde during the start of the campaign.
Now place the Mote on the stand, and a golden chest will appear. Interact with it to get the Exotic Khvostov 7G-0X in Destiny 2.
