How to boost Disposition in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion features a ton of fun and often intriguing game mechanics, many of which can make or break your playthrough of the title. One of these attributes is Disposition, which allows players to interact with NPCs and manipulate them – in order to turn them into allies.

Interestingly enough, Disposition can also be used on enemies as well. However, it is not easy to execute, (given that each NPC has their own traits) and most players might find themselves at a loss for what to do in this open world RPG.

A more detailed breakdown of the Disposition mechanic can be found below.

Disposition in Oblivion Remastered explained

Disposition in Oblivion remastered

This mechanic is automatically triggered when players choose to interact with NPCs in Oblivion Remastered. In particular, Disposition is used to refer to the ‘speech wheel’, a wheel containing up to 4 choices of responses. These responses will vary from NPC to NPC.

The wheel can be divided into Admire, Joke, Coerce and Boast options. Each NPC will behave differently to these options, which can be previewed by simply hovering on them.

To maximize your Disposition gain, try triggering options tagged with Love and Like, more so if they have 4 bars associated with them. In short:

  • The worst options should be selected only if they have the lowest number of associated bars from the circular chart.
  • The best, most favorable options work best when they have a higher number of rings/bars available in the circle.
  • The bars will move clockwise with each decision you make – so make sure to not blindly click on options.
  • It’s quite an involved process, and as such players are recommended to experiment by first trying out some less drastic responses.
  • Disposition caps at 90 points.
  • Taking too long to answer will be penalized, and result in Disposition loss.
  • Try choosing Love/Like when the rings are at their maximum, or Hate/Dislike when the same options are at their minimum values.

Balancing these responses is nothing short of a precarious dance, and key to winning over the hearts of NPCs (and foes) in Oblivion Remastered.

How to increase Disposition in Oblivion Remastered

While boosting Disposition (mostly) requires skill and patience, there do exist a few tricks to help farm it faster. For starters, try using Gold to bribe the NPC in question, in return for a random amount of Disposition.

The other alternative method is to invest your skill points in Personality. Boosting your Personality will also in turn boost your Disposition (at a rate of 1 point of Disposition per 4 points of Personality).
