Is it possible to pick any companion for any battle in Dynasty Warriors Origins?
The answer to this is yes and no. While you are completing the campaign for the first time, after a certain point in the narrative you will only be able to pick officer companions from the faction you are siding with.
Once you finish the story, you can load a clear save and check the Inn where you can replay chapters and specific one-off battles from the Story tab.
Chapter replays will start you off at a specific time in the campaign. As the battles here will be related to the main story’s progress, you will only be able to pick the companions from the faction you are now a part of.
The battle replays, on the other hand, will let you pick one-off encounters that you have already completed. Because of its very nature, you will be able to pick any companion that you want, including Lu Bu.
The companion system is restricted only when it comes to the campaign missions.
