The Field Operation objective this time around is to explore the Occult Crescent, which is located in the Shades’ Triangle.

Much of the initial missions in the region will revolve around killing some of each enemy type; however, to make the most of the Occult Crescent, you will need to start the Field Operation first.

If you are looking to make the most of it in the MMO, then the guide below will help you out.

How to start the Occult Crescent Field Operation in Final Fantasy XIV

To start the Occult Crescent Field Operation, you will first need to make your way to Tuliyollal and have a level 100 combat class. Once there, teleport to Wachumeqimeqi follow these steps:

  • Look for Ketenramm, which will have a Blue Quest marker over its head, and start the “One Last Hurrah”. After that, speak to Ofangeim, who is the NPC located nearby. Speak to them twice, and you will then obtain the objective to make your way to Shades’ Triangle.
  • You will eventually find your way to the Occult Crescent Field Operation area. There will be a brief cutscene, and afterward, you will be asked to talk to four of your crewmates. So just make towards their icon and interact with them. Once that is done, return to Ketenramm to round out the initial part of the objective. There will be a cutscene here, and you will complete “One Last Hurrah”.
  • Next, you will need to interact with the aetherial current of the morred ship, which will return you to Tuliyollal. The same ship at the High Tide Harbor will take you back there. Once you land, you will complete this part of the objective and unlock the Occult Record, which you can access from the Collection Tab.
  • You will now start the Phantom Village quest, which will eventually unlock the new Field Operation for you in Final Fantasy XIV. Interact with each of the objectives in the huge area, and before reaching the Vantage Point, make sure to pick up a record from the Occult Record. You can jump down and interact with Ketenramm again to round out Phantom Village and unlock the first set of objectives in Occult Crescent.
  • Finally, pick up the “Unfamiliar Territory” quest after talking to Archive, a Tonberry NPC. There will be a small scene here, after which, make your way to Jeffory and speak to them. This will then lead to the final cutscene that completely unlocks the Occult Crescent: South Horn region.

Occult Crescent Field Operation objectives and details in Final Fantasy XIV

Shades' Triangle Final Fantasy XIV

The Occult Crescent Field Operation in Final Fantasy XIV has a lot of content that you will be able to cover as a solo player or as a party of a larger party. However, to begin the quests here, make sure that your job class is at 100 or above on the Disciple of War or Magic class.

The required gear level for this is a minimum of 690, however, you will notice that the item level does get synced to 700.

Now, to be able to make the most of the objectives in the Field Operation, here are a couple of things that you will want to keep in mind:

1) Every Phantam Job has a separate leveling system

The first thing that you will want to take note of is that every Phantom Job in the Occult Crescent has a separate levelling system. This is indicated with the Knowledge Level system, and by taking part in various missions and combat opportunities in the area, you will get to increase this knowledge.

It works similarly to XP with a few nuances. So the goal to have an easier time surviving here will be to gather as much Knowledge Level as possible.

2) Taking part in Critical Encounters

Apart from the regular fights, you will also be able to take part in large-scale combat called critical encounters, which can involve up to 72 players taking part. The biggest rewards are tucked away behind these missions. As these are not bound by Knowledge Level, anyone can take part in these missions.

Before you start this encounter, you can speak to the Expedition Skywatcher to know what the weather is like, and then speak to the mender who is outside.

3) Unlocking Phantom Jobs

One of the very first things that you will want to do when starting the Occult Crescent Field Operation is to unlock Phantom Jobs. You will begin this new area as a Phantom Freelancer who has the Occult Truesight ability, which allows them to detect the total number of treasure coffers in the area. You will also have the Occult Resuscitation ability, which lets you restore 30% of your Max HP.

Now, to get Phantom Jobs, you will need to talk to Ketenramm and then start the “New Job, Old Tricks” quest line. Afterwards, speak to Archive, and you will start a new cutscene. Once that is done, complete the objective, and you will unlock the following Phantom Jobs in addition to Freelancer:

  • Knight
  • Monk
  • Bard

Once you pick one of them, you will then get a new quest from the Archive called “The Ancient Arts of War”.

4) Knowing more about the Occult Crescent and the Shades’ Triangle

The initial objectives of the Field Operation revolve around gathering more information on the Occult Crescent. Once you complete “The Ancient Arts of War,” you will need to head back to Ketenramm to pick up the “Creatures of the Crescent” quest. which will then finally allow you to get into battles in the Occult Crescent.

You will eventually start to learn more about the world around you, and all you will need to do is to fight a few of each enemy in the area. Once you complete the initial objectives, head to Archive with all the information to complete “Creatures of the Crescent.”

Once this is done, the region opens up and you will complete the rest of the objectives here.
