With the 7.25 update, the quest to get your hands on the Dawntrail Relic or Phantom weapons is now live in Final Fantasy XIV. Like with obtaining any other Relic weapons in the game, to get your hands on the latest Phantom ones, there are multiple steps and processes that you will need to invest in.
So if you are looking to get your hands on the latest Dawntrail Relics in the MMO, then the guide below will help you out.
What are Relic Weapons in Final Fantasy XIV?

Simply put, Relic weapons in Final Fantasy XIV are unique weapons for each job that need to be upgraded after completing a series of quests. Once you have completed them, you will then unlock the best weapon for that expansion.
However, do keep in mind that relic weapons drop in patches, so the complete steps to getting them all are not out just yet. So if you are looking to get your hands on a Danwtrail Relic, then you can wait for a couple more updates to grind out the entire process in one go.
The Phantom Relic in Final Fantasy XIV involves the Occult Crescent Field Operation. However, the field operation is not the only means of acquiring your weapon, and you will fortunately be able to get them by other means.
How to start the Dawntrail Relic Weapon process in Final Fantasy XIV

To begin the process to unlock the Dawntrail Relic Weapon in Final Fantasy XIV, here are a couple of things that you will need to do:
- The first step in the process is to start with the Occult Crescent Field Operation. You will need to unlock the Shade’s Triangle area, and then keep completing the quests till you are able to unlock your first Phantom Jobs. Once you have picked either Knight, Monk, or Bard, the next step will be to make your way to the Phantom Village and then speak to Lydirceil (6.6, 7.1). This will start the “Arcane Artistry” quest, where you will need to look for a missing weaponsmith.
- Once you pick up the quest, head to the circled areas that are nearby, find the NPC, and then speak to him. This will start a cutscene where you will return with them to Lydirceil. There, speak to the blacksmith again to get another cutscene followed by the start of the Dawntrail Relic Weapon — Phantom Weapon quest.
- To complete this quest, you will need to bring back the demiatma to Gerolt. This will then unlock the first part of the Phantom Weapons in FF XIV. The demiatma are obtained by completing FATES or taking part in larger 72-player missions in the Field Operation called the Critical Encounters.
- Fortunately, another way of getting the item is from completing FATES in the following dso that you do not have to rely on grinding out content in the Occult Crescent:
- Urqopacha
- Kozama’uka
- Yak T’el
- Shaaloani
- Heritage Found
- Living Memory
- You will need three pieces of the six unique varieties of demiatma, so you will need three from each of the FATES that are mentioned above.
