The Giant Turtle in Fortnite has seven potential spawn locations in Fortnite and they’ve been marked in the image below:
As you can notice, the turtle only spawns near water bodies. Once you’ve memorized the potential spawn points, we recommend searching for them before leaving the Battle Bus.
You can spot the turtle from a distance because the foliage on its back is slightly different from the ones around it. Here’s an example:
How to complete The Great Turtle questline in Fortnite
Finding the Giant Turtle in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 will instantly give you an XP level up, thanks to the new Story questline tied to it. Then, by breaking the five dark magic thorns on its back and opening the chest offered by Ryuji, you can get a bunch of additional XP.

On its shell, you will find an Elemental Chest and a Shrine. There are also a few Slurp Barrels here that you can break to get some quick shields.
A launch pad on its head will launch you far into the air, allowing you to reposition yourself during combat. Luckily, Ryuji respawns to help you progress in the quest objectives even if you eliminate him.
It’s also worth noting that based on whatever the NPC says, the Giant Turtle is waiting for its lost love and a Sea Serpent. It’s likely that the Sea Serpent being talked about here is Godzilla, which is yet to make its appearance on Fortnite Island.
