Brighter Shores lets players choose a unique username for their custom generated character when they first begin the game. Equipping a cool username can most certainly help your character stand out, and players may want to change their usernames later on as the game progresses.
Thankfully, there does exist a way to swap character names past the initial character creation stage – but at a (literal) cost. More on the same below.
How to change your name in Brighter Shores

To change your username in Brighter Shores, you will have to make use of the Premium Pass.
Simply access the ‘Rename’ ability within the Pass to change your character’s name with something you prefer (as long as it isn’t too offensive, and/or breaks the spirit of the game/terms of service).
Purchasing the Premium Pass for the first time will immediately offer you the ability to change your name – with subsequent attempts locked behind the NPC known as Eric Inkwell, located within Crenopolis.
Either way, a subscription to the Premium Pass is mandatory to have access to this particular feature in Brighter Shores.
Is it worth buying the Premium Pass to change your username?
If you do not intend to make use of the Premium Pass battle pass tier, it makes little sense to purchase it for simply changing your title.
Choose a unique username the moment you start the game, and stick to it.
It does make more sense though to buy the Premium Pass if you plan on progressing through all of the game’s content – and plan to play long-term. The Premium tier brings with it many benefits, including two whole regions (and their jobs) which might make it worth purchasing for many.
Another thing to note is that free to play players have no ‘real’ unique username – as they carry a suffix at the end. Only names adjusted with the Premium Tier lack such a suffix.
