SAM (Strange Alien Matter) Ore is one of the many resources that you will need to progress through the narrative in Satisfactory. They are scattered around each of the different Biomes in the game, and fortunately, they are not that hard to find. As long as you are exploring the map and completing achievements you will be able to come across them.

Best SAM Ore locations in Satisfactory

Here are the different biomes and the best spots for farming SAM Ores in each of them:

Grass FieldsIn the Grass Fields biome, the best spot for SAM Ore will be near the giant architecture. You will find a bug hole below it with a SAM Ore node.
Rocky DesertYou will find the best SAM Ore spot on the very eastern edge of the Rocky Desert. There is a cave entrance there leading to a cluster of four coal nodes and a big SAM Ore node.
Northern ForestIn the Northern Forest head to the very north fo the biome and you will eventually reach the Spiral Coast. Here you will notice an impure SAM ore node to the northwest and a Supre SAM ore node in the notheast.
Dune DesertWhen you are in the Dune Desert biome you will need to make your way to the western edge and head up the mountains. You will locate a Crash Site there along with a SAM Ore node.

How to mine SAM Ore in Satisfactory

Portable Miner Satisfactory

To mine a SAM Ore in Satisfactory you will first need to make sure that you have crafted a Portable Miner. Double-click on it from your inventory to equip it in your hands and then press V to scan the area for resource nodes.

Once you highlight the SAM node, approach it and keep moving around the Ore to get a button prompt. Left-click when it appears and you will be able to place the Miner down. The device will then automatically mine the resource for you.

How to use SAM Ore in Satisfactory?

SAM Ore is a resource that you use to progress the narrative in Satisfactory. For now, they are not used for any other form of crafting, so you won’t need a huge amount of them. It’s likely that in future updates their use might change, so keep a note of where the best farming spots are for later.
