Best starting location to pick in Satisfactory

Satisfactory has four biomes and you will be able to start your journey from any one of these locations. Your goal is to strip the planet of its resources and then use the materials to craft them into project parts that will benefit your company.

However, each biome offers something different and while some are best for obtaining early-game resources, others are more tailored to the late-game grind.

Here is a guide on the pros and cons of every biome in Satisfactory and which you should choose as a starting location to begin unlocking achievements.

Pros and cons of every Biome in Satisfactory

Here are some of the pros and cons of the biomes in Satisfactory:

1) Grass Fields

Grass Fields biome Satisfactory

The Grass Fields is a great starting location for both beginners and veterans of the game. It contains almost all the resources and nodes that you will need to get a factory going, and as it comes it nice flat land, making structures on it is also easy.

However, th nodes in the Grasslands are spread a bit too thin. You will need to journey all over the area to gather resources making it one of the worst choices for the late-game.

However, if you are set on spending most of your time in this biome, make sure to create long conveyor belts for easy transport of resources.

2) Rocky Desert

Rocky Desert biome satisfactory

The Rocky Desert biome is great for the mid-to-late game point. While it may not be ideal as a starting point, once you get a bit used to them and have the necessary items to reach the mid-game, the biome can be incredibly rewarding.

It has a bunch of iron, copper, and limestone nodes, with a lot of coal that you will be able to farm from all over the map.

Coal is a key resource for the early game, and with the right set-up and strategy, it won’t be hard for you to reach the later stages of progression.

However, while the Rocky Desert has flat surfaces like the Grass Field, it does not have the same level of biomass. It can make creating certain structures rather difficult.

3) Northern Forest

Northern Forest biome Satisfactory

The Northern Forest is another great starting location in Satisfaction for beginners. It’s abundant in resource nodes as well as biomass, which will help you get your early factory set-up going right away.

However, the negative of the Northern Forest lies in the fact that it’s surrounded by trees on all fronts, making it very difficult to set up a good factory base. You will need to rely on the Chainsaw to clear out a lot of the area before you can make a connection of structures.

4) Dune Desert

Dune Desert biome Satisfactory

Dune Desert is the hardest location to start in Satisfactory because of how scarce it is in biomass and copper and limestone nodes. However, the biome has an abundance of Pure nodes and large open areas making it one of the best areas for the late-game.

If you can tough your way through the early and mid-game, you will find that the Dune Desert is the most rewarding biome of the lot when reaching the endgame.

Which biome should you pick as a starting location in Satisfactory?

If you are new to the game, then we recommend that you start your journey in the Grass Fields and Northern Forest biome of Satisfactory. The resources are in abundance in these areas offering you a lot of room to learn the various gameplay mechanics.

If you are confident about your factory-building skills then you can opt for the Rocky Desert or even the Dune Desert. Life here can be rough at the start, however, the biomes get significantly more rewarding once you have your bases set.
