The new Fallout 4 update isn’t working properly for many players, and everyone’s looking for a way to rollback the update as soon as possible.
The Fallout 4 next gen update isn’t compatible with the Script Extender so you can’t use mods with it. That aside, the next gen update for this open-world game contains minor tweaks to the existing codebase which also causes inconsistencies with any mods that you’re currently using.
Before you try to downgrade to an older Fallout 4 version, it’s worth knowing that this method works only if you have a copy of the game on Steam. Downgrading is not available on consoles at this point it time.
That said, here’s how you can rollback your Fallout 4 to an older version of the game.
How to downgrade your Fallout 4 game to version 1.10.63
As suggested by u/SnooMarzipans253 on Reddit, here’s how you can downgrade your Fallout 4 version on Steam:
- Access the Steam console by going to this link in your browser: steam://open/console
- On this link, paste the following codes to download the older Fallout 4 files that you need to rollback the update:
- download_depot 377160 377161 7497069378349273908 – Fallout Content a
- download_depot 377160 377163 5819088023757897745 – Fallout Content b

- download_depot 377160 377164 2178106366609958945 – Fallout English
- Create a new folder and then make your way to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content where you will find all the depot files. Do note that the path might differ based on the drive you’ve installed Steam on.
- Copy all the depot files and paste them into the new folder that you just created. You might be prompted to replace a few files, so just replace them as you proceed.
- Once you’ve completed the entire process, head over to the location where you’ve installed Fallout 4, and then delete everything in the folder.
- Now, copy all the depot files from the new folder, and place them in the Fallout 4 folder.
- In case you’re using any Creation Club mod, head to the data folder and delete all the files that start with CC.
- In case you had DLCs, you can use the following commands to download them alongside the other depot files:
- download_depot 377160 435870 1691678129192680960 – Automatron

That concludes everything that you need to know about downgrading your Fallout 4 files to an older version. After you’ve concluded the Fallout 4 rollback, you can use all your favorite mods with Fallout 4 Script Extender once again.
