Much like other prior Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion Remastered lets players turn into a creature of the night at their own will. While it is very easy to turn into a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered, there do exist a set of cons that might sour the overall experience – making the game a lot more difficult.
Regardless, a set of pros, cons and how to turn into a Vampire in the game can be found detailed in the sections below.
How to transform into a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered

The easiest way to turn into a Vampire early game is to directly head on over to the Barren Cave. This particular cave is located below the Blue Road, near the path to Cheydinhal.
Once within the Blue Cave, stay on the lookout for two hostile vampires. Make sure to purposely tank a few hits from them – in order to contract Porphyric Hemophilia.
Once the strain has been contracted, leave the place immediately and wait a total of 3 days in-game. After waking up from a deep slumber on the third day, players should now be immediately transformed into a Vampire.
Alternatively, it is also possible to become a Vampire by completing all of Vicente Valtieri’s contracts within the Dark Brotherhood. This takes a lot longer though.
Pros and Cons to becoming a Vampire on Oblivion Remastered

Playing as a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered comes with its pros and cons:
Pros
- A massive buff to certain perks, effects and resistances across the board – which might make it worthwhile at first.
- Being able to unlock a new set of magic spells with the 4 stages of Vampirism.
- You will automatically progress into the next stage if you go 24 hours without feeding on someone.

Additional information regarding the Vampiric Stages:
Stage of Vampirism | Spell Gained | Description |
---|---|---|
One | Hunter’s Sight | Gain night vision for 30 seconds |
Two | Vampire’s Seduction | Add 50 points of Disposition to an NPC |
Three | Reign of Terror | Affected enemies cannot cast spells and become helpless for 60 seconds |
Four | Embrace of Shadows | Turn invisible for 3 minutes |
Cons
- You absolutely cannot walk around in broad daylight. Doing so will set you ablaze, and you will take damage every second you are exposed to sunlight.
- Affected players will also be very weak to Fire damage.
- Players will need to periodically feed on other NPCs in order to avoid going into further stages of Vampirism.
- Each day you forget to feed progresses your condition even further.
- Players must feed on humanoid NPCs – and not corpses in order to reduce their Vampirism levels. Getting caught will, however, alert the guards.
- Additionally, players cannot interact with other NPCs at Stage 4 of their Vampirism.
The cons far outweigh the pros, and as such it is not recommended to turn into a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered.
