The true ending is one of the hardest achievements to unlock in Black Myth Wukong. It’s probably not something that you will be able to get in your initial playthroughs, but it will be something that is reserved for subsequent NG+ runs.
To unlock the ending there are a few requisites you will need, primarily completing the complicated Loongs questline, and then discovering the Grand Pagoda in The New West. To make things more difficult you will have to go through a series of difficult bosses and even face the final boss more than once.
While it’s one of the hardest endings to unlock in the action-adventure it’s important as one of the trophy achievements for those going for 100% completion.
Note: Before we move on to how you can unlock the true ending in Black Myth Wukong, it’s important to mention that the guide below will have story spoilers. You are advised to read further only if you have completed the narrative atleast once.
How to achieve the true ending in Black Myth Wukong

Here are some of the pre-requisites that you will need to complete to achieve the true ending in Black Myth Wukong:
- Complete the four secret areas in Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 respectively.
- Find the Grand Pagoda optional area
- Complete the Loong questline
- Complete the main story mission with the first ending
1) How to find the Grand Pagoda
To reach the Grand Pagoda you will need to reach Chapter 3 and head to the New West. This is an optional area and can be hard to locate because of all the snow. However, to reach it first head to the Snow-Veiled Trail Keeper’s Shrine, and from there you will need to make your way east.
You will spot a bridge there that you will need to cross, beyond which you will find a large open area. There will be a frost-covered door on the other side, so just interact with it and you will automatically unlock the Grand Pagoda region.
2) How to complete the Loong questline in Black Myth Wukong
The Loong questline is one of the more complicated missions to complete in the game and multiple steps go into completing it. To unlock the questline itself, you will need to talk to the NPC who upgrades your Healing Gourds and unlocks the Spirit Absorb skill.
This happens very early on and in the initial chapters of the game. Once the quest is active, you will then need to find the Loong Scales and the 3 Loongs located around the different regions.

Here is what you will need to do to complete the Loong questline in Black Myth Wukong:
- You will be able to find the Loong Scales in Chapter 2, Yellow Wind Ridge. After you spawn, make your way to the Valley of Despair Keeper’s Shrine and then head to the Second Rat Prince boss arena.
- You will locate a wall with scriptures on it which you will need to break. An easy way of doing with will be to use the Wandering Wight Spirit activation effect which will let you ram into the wall breaking it.
- Once the wall is broken, you will find the Loong Scales. Now make your way to Chapter 1, Outside the Forest Keeper’s Shrine and you will find the Red Loong there. Beat it and then head to Chapter 2, Rockrest Flat, to find Black Loong.
- The third Loong, Cyan Loong is found in Chapter 3, Turtle Island. Once you have beaten all three Loongs, head to Chapter 4, Webbed Hollow, Relief of the Fallen Loong Keeper’s Shrine. Here you will find the Yellow Loong who seems to have taken control of the NPC that upgrades your Healing Gourd.
- Take out the Yellow Loong and you will round out the Loong questline in Black Myth Wukong. You will also receive the Golden Lining Transformation Spell as a reward.
3) Completing the story mission with the first ending
This step is pretty self-explanatory and all you will need to do is to complete the narrative of the game once and achieve your very first ending. However, the conclusion of this ending might feel a little lacking in terms of explanation and giving players proper content on Destined One’s relation with Sun Wukong.
This is where the secret true ending comes in, and shows a lot of key insights into some of the most iconic moments from Sun Wukong’s Journey to the West.
Once you reach the final chapter in Black Myth Wukong and unlock Mount Huago you will be facing off against two bosses, Stone Monkey and Great Sage’s Boken Shell. Once you defeat them, you will have successfully unlocked the first ending of the game.
Black Myth Wukong true ending explained

Once you have been able to complete each of the steps given above, you will need to once again head back to the Grand Pagoda. This time, there will be a small cut scene, and you will be teleported to Mei-Jian Peak, which is a secret location.
You will now have to fight Erlang Shen, who is considered by many in the community to be one of the hardest boss encounters in Black Myth Wukong. Even with your best armor sets and skills, you will probably be running the fight multiple times before you are able to take him out.
Once you have defeated Erlang Shen and the Four Heavenly Kings, you will obtain the Azure Dome Transformation. You will be able to use this to transform the Destined One into the Stone Monkey.
Now, make your way back to Mount Huaguo, and you will have to face the final boss, Great Sage’s Broken Shell once again. However, this time when you defeat it, the cutscene you get will be completely different.
The scene marks some of the key moments from the Journey to the West novel and ties in perfectly with the prologue of the game. The prologue starts out with Sun Wukong making quick work of Erlang Shen. With The Destined One now triumphing over him too, the narrative seems to have come full circle for our protagonist.
