League of Legends best Twitch build guide AP/AD: Counters, Itemization, Strategy, and more

The best Twitch build for both AD and AP playstyles has seen some improvements in League of Legends season 14 with the introduction of the new item updates. The removal of the Mythic Items did not hurt his standing in the meta all that much and the Plague Rat remains one of the best AOE hyper-carries in the late game.

In season 14, Twitch’s build path has been a bit more versatile as he can be flexed to support, apart from his usual role as a bot laner. Most ADC Twitch builds are purely AD while AP is the go-to choice for support Twitch.

For either build, Twitch is easy to snowball with once he gets early leads, however, his positioning needs a fair bit of practice as he is very easy to collapse on.

Twitch Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14

Pros:

Support:

• Twitch is one of the best lane gankers in Riot’s MOBA. His Q allows him to catch an unaware enemy and help his laners gain early leads by securing kills or burning their summoner spells.
• Twitch generates immense amount of passive pressure by virtue of existing on the map. Whenever you don’t show up in the bot lane, enemy laners will have to be cautious of pushing too far forward.
• Twitch is one of the few hyper-carry supports that doesn’t need to rely on their ADC partner performing well.

Bot:

• Twitch is very easy to snowball with once he starts securing plates and getting early leads during the laning phase.
• He has great roaming potential and can often confuse enemies as to where he is on the map because of his Q.
• His Q allows him to ambush the enemy backline melting their healthbars with Spray and Pray.

Cons:

Supporty

• Twitch is very squishy and can be quickly chain-cced and bursted down.
• The lack of gap-close options makes it difficult for him to secure kills without having to invest a flash.
• He can get spotted by enemy teams that are smart with their vision game.

Bot Lane:

• Very weak early and has a hard time laning against ADCs with more range than him. Also does not do well against engage supports.
• The lack of a dash makes him vulnerable to ganks. Can be easily targeted and killed if his Q is on cooldown.
• One of the harder ADCs to master. Needs proper positioning and kiting skills to carry fights and skirmishes.

How to play Twitch: Tips and Tricks for Season 14

Early Game:

• Support: Try to gank every lane at least once. Do not worry about losing out on experience if it means you can get your laners and jungler ahead. Always alert your ADC to farm safe and concede bot priority for the first few levels.
• Bot Lane: Twitch is pretty weak early only, hence, the initial strategy will be to farm under the tower and stay relevant in gold. Only look to roam the map once you have Balde of the Ruined King and Berserker’s Greaves up. 

Mid Game:

• Support: The mid game will be all about vision control and getting picks. Twitch is excellent at doing this thanks to his stealth. Try to pick off unsuspecting enemies that overextend before important objectives spawn on the map.
• Bot Lane: Here is where wave management comes into play, and you will need to set up your minions in such a way that you are able to roam and make plays elsewhere without losing out on farm and XP. Make sure to not just stick to one lane as Twitch’s greatest strengths lie in surprising the enemy with his Q.

Late Game:

• Support: The team will now benefit from a secondary AP damage hyper carry that can tear open a teamfight. Much like an ADC Twitch, you will have to be careful with your positioning in big fights.
• Bot Lane: Flanking the enemy team can be difficult as most of the map might be filled with Red Wards that will spot you out. Twitch is amazing at melting through the frontline, so there is no shame in taking on the enemy from behind your front line if Spray and Pray is up. Get the attack speed buff from using your Q and go all in on your enemies. As he is a hyper carry, never be afraid to take fights if you see your team collapsing on the opponent.
